Terms of endearment for grandchildren?

DD has always been called Princess by her dad the same name he uses for both DGDs,all the boys have had different different names over the years which we don't use now they are 17-23 yrs old but young Luke is called Spooky Lukie as he just seems to appear from nowhere,and Ross was known as Wingnut until he was about 14 and took exception.

Our DGC are referred to as "the lovelies". Well they just are!

Ninathenana: those are exactly the kind of thing that I want to use, but as FlicketyB said about Cherub, when I've said them, they sound odd coming from me!

For now, I guess I will stick with pet. Northern or not, it's as good as anything for all those occasions when the full (or shortened) name seems too impersonal or repetitive.

The answers here have given me lots of ideas for what I can use for little GD though - for some reason, there seem to be a lot more options for girls!

When DD1 was born we used to call her 'Nebuchadnezzar king of the Jews'. I have no idea why, but she did look a bit like a little old man.

Pickle, precious, poppet, gorgeous, monkey, baked bean, chubba-lubba, macaroni, dimple-chops, handsome, treasure(trezh), trouble
..... any of these for any of them!

Re OP...stick with Pet..nothing wrong with Northern!

Oldest GD is known as Pinkie as my DiL was told "she" was definitely a "he" during a 3D scan and we all bought blue baby clothes.

GD2 is known as Popsie.

DGS is Chubba Chups !

My two are known as The Ghastlies. Or worse sometimes.

My pet name for firstborn granddaughter was missy moo moo, my father always called his granddaughters 'missy' so that where it began,however she is now known as my angel... Latest DGD is just gorgeous girl..

I call my oldest DGS - Precious boy. My OH calls him Champ.

Youngest DGS - Angel boy. OH calls him Ellius Smellius (based on his name and certainly not PC!).

Twin GDs - Precious Girl and Angel Girl. OH calls the girls his Princesses.

My Dad used to call my DSs Haudit and Daudit and in fact that's the names we out in the notice when he died. Xx

Our 2 year old granddaughter is called Rose, but we call her Rosie Posy.

For some reason I call DGS the Chunky Monkey, why we have no idea as he is a wee thing, with 'more meat on a butchers pencil' than on him !!!!!

I call both my daughters and all grandchildren 'darling' or 'sweetheart'

I call my granddaughters 'lovebug'. If I want to get them both to do something I call them 'girly whirlys'. No complaints at the moment.

Collectively, my lot are 'the tiddlers'.

Individually their 'pet' names are (in descending age order) Sausage, Flump, Twinkle and Squirmy.
As for the impending DGD (any day now), I shall know when I meet her, they have all happened spontaneously.

The pet names are the ones that go in cards on birthdays and xmas, but to their faces it's more often their given name or hunny, darling or my love.

And if they are naughty, it's their full name....... surname and all

Ah yes, the full name - you know you've been really naughty when you get called that!

By the way, Gratefulgran, thanks for mentioning Tiddler - I think I might use that for my little granddaughter. It would suit her down to the ground and is not far removed from her shortened real name either. Perfect!

DB used to call me 'Rabbit'

Pet,petal and flower are all lovely north east names for children and can be used scathingly for adults who behave in an age inappropriate fashion.

GS is Little Man, GD is Noodly Doo , used to be Noodle when smaller, just a play on her name.
GS says he's not a little man though but a boy!

I call my eldest two dgds 'my gorgeous girlies' or Meggiepeg and AmberPamber, the youngest two dgc are called by their names!

My little grandson (6 months old today) is "Nanna's little treasure chest".
