Baby shower

This seems to be the place to get advice on presents to give. My daughter-in-law's best friend has invited us all to a surprise baby shower.

I've got a couple of ideas, but I'd like to find something fun and really original. Any ideas?

I should ask of there is a list before you buy anything. Before I went to a recent baby shower, I told my daughter what I was going to buy. She was horrified that I was not buying something from THE LIST and was going to turn up with any old thing. I have had 5 children and 9 grandchildren, so what so I know about babies? Items on the list were designer clothes, expensive equipment and lots of stuff a newborn does not need but must have for show. I put £10 in an envelope.
