Totally agree with Jings re flavoured coffee.

I don't even like liqueur coffee like an Irish coffee. I like my liqueur separately !

Hmmmm I wonder if I could sneak in a cheeky little Tia Maria with my ham sandwich and coffee for lunch? [grin ]

We put 2 very heaped dessert spoons in ours - so 4 level ones I suppose. We like it strong!!! we only have it for breakfast though. We always used to get our filter coffee from Sainsburys or Tesco, but Lidl have started sell it now and it's not bad!

Neither do I! The more it's disguised the better. grin

Truth is I don't like coffee blushgrin

I'm not precious about my coffee and will drink most but agree with jings about flavoring spoiling coffee. Especially mint or caramel.
Can't stand lattes. Give me plain ordinary coffee, black or white.

I liked flavoured coffee because it covers up the coffee flavour! grin Carmel coffee is lovely. wink

I would chuck it. TBH. grin

God! Has my life come down to this??!! Well, the box was just one more item of clutter to be dealt with

I'll try it tomorrow; I don't drink coffee after about 5pm else I'm like a cat on a hot tin roof!
Useful when there's chores to do.

jinglbellsfrocks Thu 04-Feb-16 16:00:14

Hmm. Probably flavoured coffee. ie good coffee spoiled.

jinglbellsfrocks Thu 04-Feb-16 15:59:07

Oh! Bung it in a jug and top it up with some hot water. 'Suck it and see'!

wot Thu 04-Feb-16 15:58:44

Oh, yes, there are 6 sachets! With silly names like "Christmas Morning" etc.At least now I have some idea how much to use. I always think when |I get a "luxury present" how I'd rather have had something practical! Like a n ew frying pan!

jinglbellsfrocks Thu 04-Feb-16 15:57:29

Yeah. 60 grams is more than two ounces isn't it? I would one of those satchels in a full size cafetière. Making about three mugfuls.

Elegran Thu 04-Feb-16 15:48:08

60grams is quite a lot - 4 tablespoons or 12 teaspoons. (5g = 1teaspoon, 15g = 1 tablespoon) It depends how strong you like your coffee.

WilmaKnickersfit Thu 04-Feb-16 15:45:25

Cafetieres usually come in cup sizes lik 4 cups, 8 cups, etc. so I would start with one teaspoon per cup for the number of cups your cafetiere is supposed to be.

wot Thu 04-Feb-16 15:38:24

It's really hard to find proper tespoons now...they're all fancy and little etc. I've got a very old one of my mum/dad's which I always use and guard with my life! I've also got those scoops for my filter machine. Thanks for the tip though. I like it strong but it does make me "jittery" Yes, I can visualise yards, inches etc but my oh gets angry. about that.

loopylou Thu 04-Feb-16 15:33:50

I usually put in 2 teaspoons or 3 dessert spoonfuls if using bigger cafetière. I don't like strong coffee so it's a bit trial and error.

You're certainly not thick - I'm still using imperial measurements, can't get my head around metric, and especially centimetres!

wot Thu 04-Feb-16 15:29:24

Last Christmas, a friend sent me a present of coffee and tea bags from Harrods! I can't abide tea but love coffee. The coffee is loose in sachets of 60g. I have been using a filter machine and also a Tassimo pod one for years. My question is, how much of this coffee do I put in in my new, cheap, little cafitere thingy [350ml]. I'm "old school and use imperial measurements! [thick, in other parlance] I want to try this coffee and if it works well, I'll get more loose coffee from Lidls. Not Harrods![ I'm going to 're-gift the posh tea bags.]
