Boys summer light weight dressing gowns

Thanks everyone for your ideas. I have gone down the Kimono route, but the cost of sending there here ( Cyprus) was more than the item cost .

I will have another think and see if friends in UK can source any locally. I have summer and winter dressing gowns for all the adults that visit, just not small enough for the little people. Who knows they may get up and straight in to their swim suits and into the pool, mum and dad may not be in for a lazy holiday after all!!!

My son, into Karate , when he was young had a dressing gown based on a kimono.
Perhaps this would be another route to search, Try etsy.

*I'd get him a thin cotton onesie and tell him that's what big boys wear!

Gosh! My DD would be pleased if her boys wore one..she resorted to onsies for them so they would be warm when the got up (early) in winter!

Perhaps his mother could "forget" to pack a dressing-gown for him. He can't refuse to come out of his room for all the holiday - or he could always get dressed, as thatbags says.

"Won't come out his bedroom without it".

I think a five year old is old enough to understand that a dressing gown won't be necessary on holiday in a hot place. Couldn't you just explain that? He could even get dressed in shorts and a T-shirt before he emerges if he doesn't want to come out in his PJs.

I wouldn't think you would need dressing gowns in that heat. I wouldn't wear one either! Where do you live? We had snow and hail today so seems a long way off till summer!

maybe if you searched for bath or beach robe for children you'd find something.

Probably when he gets there and he's really hot he may forget about the dressing gown! Maybe get him some cool summer PJs- cotton shorts / t shirt type which he would enjoy wearing. Otherwise just get the bath/ beach robe in a thinnish towelling. he could use it after swimming as well.

I bought towelling DG's for the DGSs from BHS -Spiderman I think. Older DGS had a Disney one once -maybe the Disney shop?

Presumably he is coming with his parents, so couldn't you ask them to pack something appropriate for him?

What about one of the towelling ponchos sold for the beach? They vary in quality and design but I've seen sharks, Sponge Bobs, other cartoon characters and superheroes. They are loose and the cheap ones are very thin fabric.
This may not be what you are looking for but would serve the purpose.

Any chance of you or someone local running him up a simple cotton wrap over robe?

Alea & Greyduster, He loves his dressing gown, and won't come out of his bed room without it on. All I can find are ones that are 'fleecy and cosy' not quite appropriate for summer in Cyprus.

Can't get ours into his dressing gown for love nor money even in the winter unless he's feeling one degree under.

Why does he need a dressing gown? Most children (and this adult) just mooch around in PJ's until they choose to get dressed!
