The question is can, no, dare I wear orange tights with this dress?

DanniRae Sun 04-Jun-17 12:50:54

quizqueen - ouch!

I think orange tights would look awful, personally, with any outfit and you would look ridiculous. I don't believe the people advocating otherwise on here would actually wear them! I would go for one of the darker colours in the pattern to complement it more subtly. If you need to come on here to ask for advice then you must already know in your heart that it's a no.

Well, buy a pair and test them out. I think its great to see lovely bright colours. Life is too short for beige.

Caro1954 Sun 04-Jun-17 12:02:15

Absolutely! I always try to wear something wacky to family dos - gives everybody something to talk about! And if they're talking about me they're leaving everybody else alone! You sound as if you could carry it off with confidence, so just do it!

I love it, I think it is a perfect match and expect you will look wonderful. Enjoy the birthday and please let us have some photos afterwards. You are so lucky to still have your Mum, that definitely needs celebrating with bright colours. Happy Birthday to your Mum.x

My rule of thumb is the full length mirror.
If I like what I see I wear it but sometimes I can see I need to make a few adjustments.
I don't believe you are ever too old to wear anything if you like yourself in it.

It's not easy to put on tights paddyann grin

I would wear dresses/skirts more often but I don't like tights and have to wear flat shoes. Yesterday I saw a woman in a dress and white trainers and it looked quite trendy - but she was young and about 5'10"

Wear whatever you want to! The world really is full of woe and sadness right now so some beautiful bright colours on someone of any age is wonderful ?

paddyann Sun 04-Jun-17 09:29:08

I would wear nude tights with that and nude shoes ,I live in dresses probably have around 20 knee length and 10 or 12 maxi and that only because I gave away a big bag of them recently.Nothing easier then a dress, one choice in the morning and either black or nude tights and shoes or boots.I NEVER go bare legged and thats a throw back to when I was very young my late mother thought it was very common to go out without tights or stockings ...or a hat,bag and gloves ....lol,though she did move with the times a bit and gave up the hats when she was around 45

Sorry, not enough orange in the dress. Also different light will change the colours. Only in daylight (outside) will you see if the match is true. Blue would look good as would pink smile

Lovely cloth baggs but I remember when one of my colleagues wore orange tights to work and some unkind people called her 'chicken legs'.

harrigran Sat 03-Jun-17 23:16:53

Baggs is elegant and slim and she will look amazing in her outfit, you will rock it.

DanniRae Sat 03-Jun-17 22:15:54

As already suggested I'd go for navy tights - sorry but I don't think orange tights would look good on anyone. Just saying........shock

Baggs Sat 03-Jun-17 22:09:53

Wha'd'ya'mean could, baubles!? grin

baubles Sat 03-Jun-17 22:02:22

You would totally rock that look Baggs!

Yoofspeak for you could carry it off. grin

cornergran Sat 03-Jun-17 21:44:11

Putnthe dress and tights on together with your shoes. If you feel happy in them then go for it. It doesn't matter what others think as long as you are happy and feel good.

rosesarered Sat 03-Jun-17 21:38:40

But....do bright orange legs look good? Like all things, wear them if you want to, only you know how you will feel.smile but you're a braver man than me, Gunga Din!

Elrel Sat 03-Jun-17 21:37:31

Go for it, Baggs!

Baggs Sat 03-Jun-17 21:30:02

Friend gave me these tights: perfect match for the orange in the dress.

stillaliveandkicking Sat 03-Jun-17 21:26:58

Oh the stripes. Still wouldn't wear orange tights sorry OP but I think they look awful even on 20 year olds.

stillaliveandkicking Sat 03-Jun-17 21:25:43

I can't see any orange in the dress. I wouldn't wear orange tights either, it would totally detract from the dress too.

Jalima1108 Sat 03-Jun-17 12:04:41

one at a time I should add!

Jalima1108 Sat 03-Jun-17 12:04:13

I only own three dresses and I don't like one of them. The other two I wear over a swimsuit grin

Time to declutter too.

Baggs Sat 03-Jun-17 11:33:53

This outfit-think is all about my mum's eighty-eighth birthday gathering in a month's time. If it really is hot down in the sub-tropics (Lancashire) I could wear an old but still nice dress that I haven't worn for over a decade (since we moved to the frozen north) and which I'd actually forgotten about. It's longer than the one in the pic so bare legs might be possible. Risky though! grin

Yikes! I've just realised I own four dresses. Might have to declutter!

Baggs Sat 03-Jun-17 11:27:12

m0nica, the colour orange that occurs in the dress, of course. If I can find any.

DD does have some rust coloured bamboo tights (so not claggy like synthetics) that she thinks will go and that I can borrow. She also has bamboo tights in navy. I don't own tights as I so rarely wear dresses and when I do I tend to go for leggings and socks because (a) my feet are nearly always cold, and (b) then I can wear proper (foot-kindly as in flat) shoes or boots.

tanith, wish I could go bare-legged but it would spoil the dress grin and see above about cold feet.
