Putting headbands on young baby girls (and other stuff)

Haha, exactly gillybob. You know, I can scarcely believe all the superior views on this thread.
Did none of you delight in dressing your little babies in beautiful things? Did none of you love having complete strangers stop you in the street and saying how lovely your baby looked and where did you get that gorgeous dress etc.? No? Of course not, because that would be using them as a fashion accessory, it would be showing off, gilding the lily, treating them like dressing up dolls, etc. etc. So I guess you all dressed your babies in boring clothes all the time, no sweet little outfits, no pretty pastel colours - heaven forbid anyone would think you wanted to show your baby off!
I actually think headbands on little ones are very cute - not the overblown ones that dwarf their faces, but a sweet little bow on a soft stretchy ribbon is fine. trisher, your pictures of babies modelling them are just gorgeous!

an awful lot of snobbish comments here,it seems anyone who follows fashion is a "chav" that dressing up babies how the mum wants is "naff" well I feel very sorry for you AND your kids ,not a lot of fun in any of your lives,plain clothes that are comfortable!!!They're babies not OAP'S I love to see wee ones all dressed up and their mums too ,makes my day .Mind you I come from a f amily that was alwys fashion minded ,even during the war if my mum saw an outfit she liked her dad ,who was a tailor,would sit up all night an dhand sew it for her.We always liked to be well dressed and fashionable and liked our children to be the same ..and I can assure you all I ;m not a "chav"

Oh yes me too trisher sadly not around when I had my DD or even my DGD's. Those who compare them with ear piercings etc are deluded.

You would think from some of these ridiculous posts that the mums were stapling them on !

sheilasue when my son was born almost 12 weeks early we were advised to give him a dummy,they help keep airways open in babies who hadn't developed their sucking reflex...so dont be judgemental about dummies ..they have their very useful place in some mums/babies lives .My daughter who was born on her due date never had a dummy...so it was new s to us that we should give our son one ,didn't do him OR his teeth any harm at all !

Hate the headbands and thing putting little girls in frilly net dresses is mad. The net is scratchy. Thankfully my DIL did neither to my GD

Naff, naff, naff - almost in the same league as having babies' ears pierced. Babies and toddlers need to be dressed sensibly according to the weather, kept clean and comfortable - not used as a fashion accessory for their chav mothers.

No she's not mine just advertising the headbands I think. Great for weddings aren't they. You could see a little tot just looking so sweet.
I wish my GD was that age again and someone was getting married I would so buy her one.
She looks perfectly happy and comfortable doesn't she.

My eldest granddaughter, now almost 14, had quite a few headbands all sent from Spain by a relative. The headbands were all narrow, very soft and stretchy with small flowers etc for decoration, they were cute and she did suit them(she had plenty of hair) Many of the headbands you see now seem to have large flowers etc which in some cases are almost as big as the babies face-palming said that some babies do still suit them.

Not my baby, not my money, not my problem at my advanced age.

I think headbands look stupid!

The latest fashion that irritates me is the faux fur around the pushchair hood that more often than not matches the fur around the mum's coat.
And the plastic mules (shoes) with fur across the top that are popular this summer....They remind me of a pair 1970's house slippers.

Hmm cant stand this, cant bare that. Probably dont like children either ! Move with the times ladies, or are you all still wearing liberty bodices !

I hate them. They look ridiculous and chavvy. Denim on babies looks silly too. I can't bear young children in suits either, especially with bow ties. Ugh!

To be fair, the question was asked, and so answering it will obviously get both positive and negative and strongly negative opinions. It's not like anyone suddenly went up to a mum and gave their opinions unasked.

What a bunch of grumpy grans you are. Babies need love and care and putting a headband on one is showing both. I wonder how many of you put on your lippy, spray some perfume or add some unnecessary adornment when you are dressed up. It isn't necessary you know, but you do it. And some mums like to make their babies look special.
Here's another one to upset you a bit more!
