I was thinking recently about my favourite heart-throbs over the decades.
Also which actors/celebrities actually turned me off !
My heartthrobs are :
George Clooney (just think of the Nespresso ad!)
Aidan Turner (imagine Poldark)
Tom Hiddleston (remember The Night Manager)

My absolute turn off would be ... Arnold Swarznegger
So come on GN's ....three hearthrobs and one turn off.

When I was little I used to love Sabu the Elephant boy, strange as when I got older I liked men with long hair, (still do ) if they are my age now they are lucky to have any hair!!!

lemongrove Sat 16-Sept-17 18:55:58

Oh yes, Imperfect I fancied James T Kirk in the long ago distant past too.?

lemongrove Sat 16-Sept-17 18:54:36

Turn offs: Russel Brand, ( shudder) Jeremy Vine ( the smugest most annoying man on TV) Clarkson( unnatractive and arrogant) Chris Evans, ditto.

Ooh, forgot to mention Richard Armitage. Gorgeous!

DanniRae Sat 16-Sept-17 08:49:16

Tom Burke is very attractive - a new one for me!

I loved listening to Terry Wogan's accent and infectious chuckle.

My first ever crush, at the tender age of 7 ...Captain James T Kirk of the Starship Enterprise! (Before he aged and developed a flabby belly!)

I used to kiss the TV when Cliff was on when I was 15/16! I still like him, but he doesn`t turn me on anymore.

mrswoo Thu 14-Sept-17 20:10:32

My turn ons
Ken Stott, an odd choice, I know
Paul Newman
Steve McQueen
Lenny Henry
Cillian Murphy

Off, off, off
Jonathan Ross, Chris Evans, Russell Brand, John Humphries and, I'm sorry about this, Cliff.

Howard Webb football referee. Now retired so don't see so much of him.
John Hall the Dean of Westminster. He has the most perfect voice, would be very happy for him to read me a story smile
James Norton just lovely.

The ones I don't find attractive are too numerous to mention

devongirl Thu 14-Sept-17 12:46:51

Monty was great on the One Show with his lovely dog, that sold him to me..

Nanny27 Thu 14-Sept-17 12:34:52

Diggingdoris ?

Diggingdoris Thu 14-Sept-17 12:30:05

Nanny27 I won't laugh because I love Montys gentle voice and demeanour, though he looks a bit scruffy even on his travel shows. I'd never thought he was sexy until I had an erotic dream about him once. I look at him a bit differently now!

Nanny27 Thu 14-Sept-17 12:14:50

Don't laugh anyone but I think Monty Don is gorgeous.
While I'm on that theme Alan Titchmarsh ..no no no

JackyB Thu 14-Sept-17 12:03:22

Has anyone mentioned Ricky Gervais? He really turns me off!

Blinko Thu 14-Sept-17 08:58:19

For me it would be ooh yes! for: James Norton, Alan Rickman, Clooney and Dan Snow.

And no thanks for: Hiddleston, Clarkson, Evans. (Though I was impressed when I saw Hiddleston on Graham Norton. Clearly he's multi talented).

Tomlinson wouldn't make any list of mine....

Christinefrance Thu 14-Sept-17 08:29:29

Ooh yes cassandra Scott Walker was one of my favourites too, wonderful voice.

cassandra264 Thu 14-Sept-17 07:04:05

In the old days- Scott Walker (oh the voice!) while his music was still mainstream...
Likewise Rod Stewart (even though he preferred blondes) and John Neville playing Iago with the RSC.

Mid life crisis time - the late great Patrick Swayze. No-one else came close - unless it was Kevin Costner in Dances with Wolves or Jason Isaacs playing Lucius Malfoy in the Harry Potter films.

Dirty old lady currently goes for Neil Oliver and likewise Tom Hiddleston. Also that nice new Welsh MP (whose name I forget but who is undoubtedly young enough to be my grandson) has distinct possibilities. Perhaps you should put a warning out....

And I just can't STAND Russell Brand.

Alima Thu 14-Sept-17 06:32:41

The young Kurt Russell must have been the first actor I really liked. He used to be a child star and often popped up in Disney stuff and Saturday morning pictures.

I have not noticed if Benedict Cumberbatch has been mentioned as a turn off, he looks weird to me. Brian Cox too with that permanent toothy smile, odd.

Serkeen Thu 14-Sept-17 05:45:33

Got to be Tom Hardy Johnny Depp

And no to Brad Pitt Tom Cruise something about both those two that I really don't like

Grandma2213 Thu 14-Sept-17 01:47:33

Robert Fuller (Jess Harper in Laramie) was my first love and looking back at his pictures would still be!
Harrison Ford (in his younger days)
Brian Cox though I don't want to admit it!
Can I have Peter O' Toole as well? xx

Turn offs .... how long have you got?
Lets just say Jeremy Clarkson, Tom Jones and Arnold Swarznegger to be going on with (shudder!!!)

stevej4491 Wed 13-Sept-17 23:31:58

my turn offs Chris Evans ,Russell Brand and Keith Lemon .My turn ons Brendan Coyle, Hugh Quarshi andHarry Judd.

Imperfect27 Wed 13-Sept-17 23:17:03

Ah Tegan, I want my 'heartthrobs to be men of commitment too! Bit of a purist in that way.

If I could ONLY choose one, it would have to be Colin Firth - as Mr Darcy. He is the same age as me so 'not too pervy' as Bridget Jones might say!
