I hope this is not part of some research project as the variables haven’t been clearly defined. What do you mean by “role”? “modern society”?

Baggs Thu 22-Mar-18 17:52:07

My role is living my life thus: doing no harm, taking no shit. Same as it always has been.

*gillybob, aren't you doing what most people are doing? . Society is nothing if not the the sum of its members and nothing else. None of us on our own is anything, it is the mass of us all doing our part that makes the difference.

Society is like the sea, one drop can do little but when every drop works together it can eat continents.

gillybob
Sometimes I feel like giving you a good shake ( in the nicest possible way) and DRUM SOME SELF CONFIDENCE IN TO YOU grin
Your a nice, more than capable woman. Start believing it.

gilly working and looking after a family is extremely special. Don’t sell yourself short, regardless of society, your family would be devastated without you and your input to society is a plus.

That is NOT nothing special gilly! It is women who do just that who are the backbone of society. Where would we be if it wasn't for people who care?

gillybob Thu 22-Mar-18 15:21:29

My role is to work and look after the family. Nothing special. I don't think society would suffer in any way if I wasn't part of it.

kitty, It would bring some variety into the conversation, even if the subject was similar!!grin

I am about to hang out some bedlinen as opposed to using a tumbledrier. hmm

kittylester Thu 22-Mar-18 14:34:12

Ooooh, Monica, I m trying to do the same and not succeeding - shall we swap?

M0nica Thu 22-Mar-18 14:29:40

I do not see myself as having a role in society. I am Society in the sense that I am part of the mass of people that makes it up, but I have never seen myself as having a specific role. I have done different things as life has gone on, almost always done several at the same time and I will continue to do so.

My current role is soothing a very angry daughter who has problems at work.

What is society? My value varies depending on which subset is doing the valuing

Ilovecheese Thu 22-Mar-18 14:00:50

How much does society value me? Well, as I am a baby boomer, society seems to regard me as responsible for all its' ills at the moment.

Teetime Thu 22-Mar-18 13:30:14

Voluntary community work for me.

Justtryingtomakeyourlifebetter Thu 22-Mar-18 11:45:02

What do you think your role is in our modern society?
