Where do you keep your reading glasses?

We have a whole flotilla of cheap reading glasses stationed around the house: in the bathroom for use when cutting our nails, in the kitchen for close work, by the washing machine for reading directions for washing clothes, in DH's workroom, beside my side of the bed, in pockets of our outdoor wear for use when shopping. My expensive reading classes that correct my astigmatisms as well as making it possible to read a book live beside my armchair on a small table.

And that was just the list for the house, on board our motor boat reading glasses live by the chart table and under the wheel-house table in a basket hung up for all the things that must never be mislaid.

I have a pair in every room ,including the loo,just £2.00 jobbies from the cheap shop on the recomendation from the Glaucoma clinic. No problem finding them.

Daisyboots I can’t wear ready made reading specs as the optical centre of the lenses are too wide for me. The distance between your pupils is used by opticians to determine how the position of the optical centres of the lenses in the frame. The lenses in ready made specs pull or draw my eyes to the side making me feel quite ill. This is why most opticians won’t sell them although not everyone experiences that feeling especially if they haven’t worn specs before.

DorisD you won’t need to get reading glasses from an optician they are only magnifiers and can be bought from any pound shop cheap as chips in fact most opticians will tell you to go to cheapest store Boots are very expensive as are Superdrug just go to a cheap store you’re sure to lose them anyway

And I can't hang both pairs round my neck or the chains/strings would get tangled!!

Well I have a problem in tgat I need reading glasses and also distance glasses for driving etc although most of the time I dont wear either as I hate the feel of them and manage petfectly ok without.
Before you shout bifocals/varifocals at me I have those and they are hopeless for reading more than a few words and I have to tilts my head back awkwardly to read in them anyway. Optician says there are prisms in my reading glasses which I cant have in varifocals so over the counter glasses are no good either.
So I am stuck with 2 different pairs whi h I alternate depending on whether Im watching tv or reading and Im constantly losing both to DH's annoyance. His are permanently on his face so dont get lost.

A pair in the kitchen, sitting room, by my computer and in the loo!! Also a pair in my handbag and a very nifty pair of pince nez that I bought on line that come in a small case and fit perfectly into a small handbag

I have worn varifocals for years although the top portion is almost plain glass. Never wore them all the time until I broke my arm/shoulder and couldnt use that arm for three months. Now they go on in the morning and off at bedtime. I still only need them for reading but I now feel naked without them on.

I wear glasses permanently now so don’t have that problem anymore.

Try thin colourful rubber bands matched to the top you wear. Wound round several times then the arms definitely won't budge.
Pound shops sell them as do plenty of other places incl Amazon. Cost pennies.

Where do you all get your reading glasses from ? I recently had an eye test and now need them but went to every optician in town yesterday and they do not sell ready to wear ones. Are yours all prescription ones?

One pair in kitchen, one in living room another in bedroom and a cheap fold up pair in handbag.

For a pp: if your neck cord has the little rubber loops at the ends, wrap them twice round the arms of the specs at the point where they join the frame. Stops them slipping off.

Bags,car,every room,greenhouse,stable anywhere that I need to read.Counting up I must have about a dozen pairs.

Same here Anno my sister and I spent our lives shouting at Mum ‘they’re on your head!’ when we were growing up.
I constantly misplace mine ( I have two pairs) fortunately DH is very good at finding them for me.

Varifocals for me too. Many years ago, had 'half moons' which I wore on a cord round my neck. My sisters and I spent a lot of our childhood looking for Mum's reading glasses!

I also have older pairs in the car,by my bed and my newest ones on my head. Can’t get used to remembering my new driving glasses, never needed them before now.
I do wonder if there is any harm in wearing older prescription pairs. I have one of those chain things but don’t like the ‘look’ so on the head they go.

Husband has some with a magnetic bridge, which he wears around his neck when not in use.
He likes them, but I wouldn't want to have them on all the time.

Unfortunately where ever I happen to be at the time I remove them.
If someone comes to the door when I have been wearing them I leave them on the small table near the door and then inevitably forget where they are. Or in the bathroom before I take a shower. I do have more than one pair which is good news for me as I can usually find at least one pair if not all .

Me too Cagsy. Varifocals with sun reactive lenses. Put them on and forget about them.

hanban great idea I am going to buy one will save me routing about my bag to change glasses when shopping.At least when looking for mine all the drawers got a tidy up and unwanted items thrown out.

I have a little magnifying glass on a chain to wear round my neck when I go shopping. Much easier than taking your backpack off or rummaging in a handbag for reading glasses when you want to check calorie content or ingredients, and because it hangs flat like a necklace it doesn't get in the way as glasses on a chain do.
