We have birds sitting in the tree in the front garden - I think seagulls are the main culprits.
DH has to park his car underneath there and he is forever moaning about having to clean off the bird poop.

Our house has two areas of flat roof and on occasion a little water can settle. With or without the water we are still tortured with pigeons. One of the flat roofs s above our bedroom and we can hear them splashing and having a great time, singing and dancing. In dry weather they are still there and we can hear them as they dander across over our heads.

Two cars sit in the drive and occasionally get a poop present though nothing too dreadful. It's the partying above our heads that gets my wick going.

It’s against The Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 to destroy a bird’s nest or eggs or chicks. This includes pigeons. There are those who are licensed to remove certain nests and birds and that includes pigeons. If you installed netting and a bird gets caught in it and dies then you are always liable for prosecution.

Best to consult the local district council about removing nests, etc.

I'll keep reading this thread. One of my daughters has a flat which has two balconies, complete with pigeons' nests. At first she waiting for the babies to hatch and grow before she removed the nest but now she throws the eggs over the balcony. She was getting flies coming into the flat and the mess is awful. The problem with netting is the seagulls. They are protected birds and if one became caught in the netting she would have to pay to have it rescued.

If you find the solution, let me know. I have wood pigeons on my roof. They begin cooing at the crack of dawn and wake me up. Shortly after sunrise the donkey in the field behind my house bray's, I'm used to that, but the pigeons are driving me to distraction.

I know what you mean grannysue05 My sister lives in a ground floor flat and had horrendous problems with pigeon droppings from upstairs that landed in her little yard and all over her windows too. She ended up paying for a specialist to fit this special (anti bird) wire that prevents them from perching. You can buy it and do it yourself if its not too high. It cost her quite a bit (mainly in labour) but she can at least now use her small yard so well worth the investment.

Every single morning I have to clean two areas of our path from pidgeon poop.
The pidgeons come early and perch on the gable ends of the roof (about six or seven of them).
They then deposit masses of white gooey poop before flying off.
The resulting mess is unsightly and right where people walk .
I clean up with hot soapy water and a yard brush, but I am getting fed up with the daily chore.
Does any GNetter have advice on how to discourage the birds from sitting on the roof?
I will be eternally grateful!
