I'm in a 'bottomless pit' mode today - just can't eat enough!

So far I've had:

2 fried eggs, tomatoes, avocado, 2 coffees
Sea bass fillets, red cabbage & salad, 2 glasses of wine
3 slices of bacon, brown sauce, on a buttered brioche bun
1 mini Magnum

I'm still hungry!

It should be a fast day, but it's my history group tonight with wine and mince pies, so instead I've had:

Boiled egg and toast.
Minestrone soup and bread, and one slice of ancient birthday cake found at the bottom of the freezer.
Half a dozen dates, a pear, two apples.
And DH is making a mushroom risotto for tea.

BBbevan Wed 05-Dec-18 16:03:57

So far
1 coffee
3 teas
Smoked mackerel salad.
Gammon, eggs and tomatoes for tea.

Today - a boiled egg and filter coffee for breakfast. We've just had lunch at a local carvery. I had turkey, sprouts, green beans, carrots, cauliflower, one roast potato (with a view to being semi good with the Christmas onslaught due), gravy and a small glass of Pino. Very nice it was too.

Jalima1108 Wed 05-Dec-18 13:49:51

I have used Orajel which was the only thing which worked on a nasty mouth ulcer once, but it is very strong.

A merlot mouthwash could work!

merlotgran Wed 05-Dec-18 13:36:26

I asked DH to buy me some Bonjela, Jalima but he was in a Jack in the Beanstalk mood and came back with Extra Strength Orajel which the pharmacist assured him was much better.

I wanted some nice soothing Bonjela rather than have my whole face numbed. I'll stick to alcoholic analgesia in future. grin

Jalima1108 Wed 05-Dec-18 11:45:48

Try Bonjela merlogran - it does help!

ps it's not a good idea to rub salt into a wound
Ouch

merlotgran Wed 05-Dec-18 10:30:58

DH has just cooked a delicious fry up. grin

I've been under the weather with a sore mouth due to whacking my lower gum with the toothbrush on Sunday. To add insult to injury I ate a handful of salted peanuts later in the day. Very silly. OUCH!! Haven't felt like eating much so this morning I was starving. grin

Soup for lunch and macaron cheese for supper.

Anniebach Wed 05-Dec-18 09:17:09

Chicken soup is enough to make me feel ill yet for others a panacea ...
One person's meat is another's poison ?

sodapop Tue 04-Dec-18 15:46:03

My children always have Heinz tomato soup when they are ill, definitely comfort food
Maggiemaybe I agree.
Gilly try clear fluids water or lemonade and dry toast, just little and often. Hope you feel better soon.

cornergran Thu 29-Nov-18 09:58:18

It sounds a long while without food gilly, perhaps as river suggests move away from tea. Some soup? Dry toast or a ginger biscuit? Only tiny amounts of whatever you choose. Hope you’re better very soon.

Maggiemaybe Thu 29-Nov-18 09:30:21

I hope you feel better soon, gilly.

For some reason, the only thing that I can ever manage when I’m off my food is Heinz soup, sometimes chicken but usually tomato.

Riverwalk Thu 29-Nov-18 08:29:47

If you're not well Gilly you can't force yourself to eat - you'll just have to sip on fluids until you can face food.

Maybe some very weak fruit teas to ring the changes - there's something very 'taniny' about normal tea when you're unwell and tastebuds awry. Hope you feel better soon.

cornergran Thu 29-Nov-18 08:29:03

Yesterday didn’t want breakfast, there was a jacket potato and salad at lunch time, a scone and butter at the garden centre, cheese and one gf crispbread in the evening with a vodka and tonic. The usual many mugs of tea.

Just begun the day with gf toast and butter. Not sure what will follow smile.

gillybob Thu 29-Nov-18 08:25:05

I haven’t eaten a thing since Monday and the thought of eating now makes me nauseous. Any suggestions on how to get going ? I’m struggling with a cup of tea right now .

Riverwalk Thu 29-Nov-18 08:23:19

Following my breakfast of eggs & spinach

M&S Coquilles St Jacques - looks so pretty in the shell but can be scoffed in about three bites! Plus 2 sourdough crispbreads

Rump steak, coleslaw and various bits of leftover veg, 2 glasses of white wine

I'm trying to eat out of fridge/freezer before doing yet another shop - amazing what's tucked away!
