Since moving here and having a less social lifestyle I don't seem to need make up. I swim, walk and play tennis but even when meeting for coffee no one seems to dress up or wear makeup. I use a light moisturiser and if going out a touch of lipstick but apart from that my very expensive make up bag lies un used. An expensive rip off industry I think!
I wouldn't want to, but a lack of it wouldn't send me into a downward spiral. I use far less these days, my husband kindly tells me that I don't really look any different without makeup, my routine takes very little time anyway. However, I guess if cosmetics were unavailable we'd all be the same boat!
I used to wear more when I was younger and probably needed it less!
If I'm going to work, on a day/night out etc then putting my makeup on is routine for me. However if I have a day off and am just pottering around or doing things like food shopping then I love my makeup free days.
I enjoy painting my face on though if I am going out and I enjoy buying makeup. I don't see it as an unnecessary expense at all.
Washerwoman - I am exactly the same, I always have my lippie on. DH always asks when I'm in the house 'where are you going' since I have lippie on but it just makes me feel better and if anyone comes to the door it's not quite a shock for them . Like wearing make up but only a small amount, never took hours to get ready when I was young and even less now. I am what I am of course with my lippie
I always found applying makeup tedious ,and never spent hours getting ready for a night out.Or spent lots on expensive products. However I do use lipstick and mascara and feel undressed without it.Especially as I've lost my youthful 'bloom'.I've a tiny makeup bag in the bathroom, and a lipstick in th each handbag and the car.And I never go out without a moisturiser with a high SPF as I spend a lot of time outdoors. However I love washing my face and being free of anything on it when I'm home for the rest of the day. I'd hang on to my lippie if I could, but of course I could live without it.
I am on holiday, I have a lovely tan. Apart from slathering my face with moisteriser I am not wearing make-up and may not for the next month. Once my face returns to its usual pasty colour, yes, I will so that people realise that I am not one of the living dead.
Getting ready for the day includes makeup and earrings. Even if I’m staying in all day. Makeup is foundation, eye shadow, eye liner, mascara, brow powder. I’m lucky my lips are still full and always wear lipstick. I am a fair skinned ginger (now ‘blonde’) with freckles, fair eyelashes and brows. Makeup is my friend but doesn’t cost a lot. No big designer names. Max Factor and Rimmil.
No, i have worn makeup since i was 14, and i worked in a very posh hairdressers ,when i left school at 15, and it was compulsory, also had to have hair done there every week Appearances were everything In summer i just leave foundation off, but wear lipstick and soft eye pencil It makes it easier to face myself in the mirror every day
I could, but prefer my face with. It only takes a couple of minutes. Mascara, lipliner, lipstick, blusher. Eye liner and a touch of foundation if going out for the evening. Eyeshadow if going somewhere special.
I could, but I don't want to. Not that I wear lots of makeup, but I feel more presentable to the public when I put on a little colour daily. Even if I'm home on a Sunday with no plans to go out I put on mascara and a little tinted lip balm, after all my DH still has to look at me!
I hate the feel of foundation on my skin. Feels like it's blocking all my pores and feels so greasy. I used very good quality Estee Lauder stuff before anyone jumps on me for using rubbish!
