For the last month I haven't been well so my usual routine of going for a swim between 8 to 9 has been cancelled. It's quite nice to be able to stay in bed until after 9 and I have been spending the mornings reading the paper and watching tv. It will be hard to get back into my old routine.

Hubby has just had a week off,we usually go to Cornwall as it's my birthday week but decided to stay home this year and get some much needed jobs done, so have been having very late nights and late getting up mornings.Bliss. Hub usually goes to bed about 9.30pm as needs to be up about 5am,I stay up later and get up somewhere between 7.30 to 8.30.Only 2 early mornings per week for me on grandma daycare days.6am aaargh, love my bub but hate those early starts . I never sleep in the day unless I am unwell ,which fortunately is rare

I have a bladder for an alarm clock. I leave my earplugs in ( husband’s snoring) I don’t turn any lights on and feel my way round in the dark ( practicing for if I ever go blind - I’m diabetic) have my pee then snuggle back into bed and carry on with my menopausal perspiring game of kicking the covers off and on until I’m too fed up to carry on!

I'm an early riser, often around 4.00 a.m.. I cannot go back to sleep once awake and that's when the worries start whizzing round my head, so I get up and start my day. I tell myself I can always sleep later in the day if I need to, but never do. I hate sleeping during the day.

I would love to be able to sleep. I am up between 2 & 3am but usually go back to bed for an hour during the day.

annodomini Sat 23-Nov-19 17:47:58

I have no problem sleeping. Wake up around 7, read for an hour or so and often fall asleep again. Up at 9, or when I finish a chapter. Quite often fall asleep during the day too.

Monday to Friday, it's any time between 5.30 and 6.30, to go off to work.

Weekends, any time between 8 and 9.30

No set time for me. Some days I sleep longer, some days awake and up early. These dark mornings, though, I do tend to sleep for longer.

travelsafar Sat 23-Nov-19 08:13:43

usually wake around 5am sit up read for an hour or so then snuggle back down for another hour. So generally get up around 7ish. All my activities are in the morning so this time suits me fine, as after luch i potter about doing a few bits at home then sit down around three for a rest. Used to go to bed after 11pm but now its more like 10/10.30 pm.

Alarm set for 7. I’m often awake much earlier, just stay in bed occupied with the iPad as I don’t want to disturb Mr C who needs his beauty sleep. Usually a cuppa about 7.15 then out of bed after 7.30. Sometimes much later if we both sit and read. Each day is different, that’s fine, we’re retired smile.

craftyone Sat 23-Nov-19 05:18:58

I am up and half way through a mug of tea, having eaten 2 brazil nuts and a banana. This is pretty usual for me

NotAGran55 Sat 23-Nov-19 04:28:48

BradfordLass72 Sat 23-Nov-19 00:28:34

Yesterday it was 3am as I was so excited at my proposed day out to the thermal pools.

Usually, it's around 6am.

I'm a lark. Up between 6.00am and 7.00am, any later and it upsets my whole day. I am in bed between 10.00 - 10.30.

twiglet77 Sat 23-Nov-19 00:13:53

I seldom go to bed before midnight or 1am, let the dog out when I hear DD leave for work about 7am, and we go back to bed until between 9 and 10am except the day I look after DGS, and the day I work the morning instead of the evening. I can easily sleep until 11am but will then be flustered that there's no time do anything but have breakfast (brunch?) and walk the dog before I have to go to work at 4pm.

LadyJus Fri 22-Nov-19 11:14:34

When I worked full-time, I had to be up at 3.30am so now I'm not working you'd think I'd still get up early?

Not a chance!

Up at about 9.30am most days (thanks to a nerve damage drug that causes sleepiness) and generally in bed by 10.30pm. As much as I try, I can't nap during the day.

I do miss the peacefulness, stillness and the general beauty of the world at stupid o'clock though!

Magrithea Fri 22-Nov-19 10:04:57

Usually about 7.15 or 7.30. DH has an internal alarm clock and always gets up around then - even when we're abroad!!! It's most annoying when we're on holiday in a hotel room as he gets up and bimbles about into the bathroom putting lights on etc!!!

Luckygirl Fri 22-Nov-19 09:45:53

I wake up/get up at whatever time my OH rings from his NH to say he is being poisoned! Could be any time; but tends to be early.

Willow500 Fri 22-Nov-19 06:25:05

I was always up at 5 and would be working by 5.30 (I worked from home so would still be in my pj's for some time grin )Now I'm retired I'm still up at 5 as my cat has the same body clock and wants feeding. If husband isn't working I sit at my desk messing around checking on here and FB and sometimes watching YouTube crafting videos. The days he is I'm showered and dressed by 7.30 and ready to go. I take after my dad - he was always up at 4.30 and out with the dog.

I've been on Thryoxine for years and have never taken my tablets before breakfast - now I have others to take too I just take the whole cocktail together.

tiredoldwoman Fri 22-Nov-19 05:27:54

I've been off work for 6 months after having surgery but still got up every morning at 4.45 am . ( but needed an afternoon nap and an early bed ! ) Today , I'm going to start a rehab plan of no afternoon nap and increased activity with fewer tea breaks !

Sawsage2 Thu 21-Nov-19 21:29:28

Bed at 1am, up 10am, always been like this.

Tangerine Thu 21-Nov-19 21:16:13

Biovea Uk sell Melatonin gummies on line. Not sure you can get them anywhere else because melatonin is normally prescription only in the UK. Health stores in the US are awash with melatonin products - sweets, drinks, pills, childrens pills etc to buy over the counter. My son, who lives in America brings them over for me. I use with caution. There is presumably a reason why we cant buy them here and people tend to be more gung ho in the States about medication in general.

Me too watermeadow.

Another early bird. I don’t like these dark mornings as I take the dog out at 7.30 and have usually been up a couple of hours at least.
Once it’s dark in the evening I don’t like going out. I don’t feel safe crossing the roads as I can’t see very well and prefer snuggling under a woolly blanket to a social life.
