Another vote for Lands End, as described by pinkquartz. They're a beautifully smooth Pima cotton and I bought two recently. One patterned, the other plain. I originally had an old favourite from them many years ago, so wondered if they'd still be as good. They are!

I buy all cotton nightie from Lands End.
They are plain. not a high neck but not a low neck more like a normal neckline.
No buttons or frills. They pull on over head very easily.

They last many years. I buy online and buy calf length as I am only 5 foot tall.

Have you had a look in Bonmarche. they usually have a nice selection for the slightly older lady?

David Neiper was a go to brand for a friend of mine when buying presents for her mother, but very expensive!

Have you looked on line?

I made a big mistake today - I took myself AND my long suffering husband (OK so he wanted to check out wine deals at M&S) to the hell on earth which is Westfield London on Boxing Day in search of a nightie for my 95 year old mum.
She's about 5ft 2 nowadays, and she needs a nice cotton, perhaps even cosy brushed cotton nightie, with long sleeves and buttons up the front so that it's easy for a carer to pull on over her head without hurting her or forcing her to lift her arms high. Also it should not be so long as to trip her up.
NOTHING anywhere. Nothing at all. The nearest suitable item in M&S was much to long, and had too low-cut a neckline.
Does anyone here have a suggestion for any retailer, online or otherwise, who would supply such a nightie?
And don't any of them realise that 95 year olds are a growing demographic?
