Nightie advice needed!

Some of your mums must be younger than mine as she would not like modern styles. It made me wonder just how long Damart have been making the same three-quarter-length, long-sleeved, yoked nightie though. I have been getting them for her for years. Obviously a good market for older ladies clothes.

Someone mentioned Rival on another thread and I found a blouse on there she loved. I wonder if each generation is so easily defined.

I only wear nightdresses. Cannot abide the idea of any rof trousers, no matter how soft. I get very hot in bed, so much prefer cotton/poly (no ironing needed). Usually short sleeved, although i the colder weather will then wear long sleeved. Must admit that I gave up looking for these in any of the stores and just typed in Ladies Cotton Nighties on amazon and so many came up - and prices were very good. Very happy with those I have purchased there.

I would say Bon Marché. That's where I always bought my Mum's nighties because she said they were comfortable and easy to put on and take off. Bon Marche has not gone as yet and you can still buy online too. Damart have similar nighties too.

Woods of Morcambe used to stock all the nightwear and underclothes favoured by the older generation, not sure whether they are still trading.

Definitely Damart for cotton nighties. (Much comfier in bed than anything in "man-made" fibre.)

Jersey cotton. Front fastening, Long sleeves, Not too long.

May be a cosy waist petticoat with a soft cotton tee shirt on top would be easier for the lady to put on.

Edinburgh Woolen Mill's nighties sometimes have hard scratchy labels at the back of the neck. I hope the poor old lady does not get one of those!

Been looking for weeks for a long sleeve cotton nightdress. Everywhere a multitude of pyjamas. Am I the only person who only wears nightdresses? I only want cotton. Been to JL, M&S, Bon Marche, Debenhams etc so looked on Amazon and have been pursued on a daily basis with offers so am probably going to order when the buying frenzy has abated.

Cyberjammies have some lovely things - on line and in JL- a bit expensive but lovely.

Another suggestion is to but one that's too long and cut the bottom of it.No need to hem it as it wont fray.

I agree that Bonmarche have a selection, but you may need to quick as they have gone into administration and are closing their stores.

Another who loves Lands End. Easy to put on and off as the fabric has enough stretch.
