What on earth is wrong with me?

Went to bed just after 10, between then and around 7.30 I had to get up 8 times to go to the toilet. On one occasion had to change pants & pjs, as I wasn't quite quick enough.

Also quite a change in what is actually coming out. (Colour and consistency)

Don't know how much longer I can put up with pain in abdomen and lower back.

So do I phone 111 again, or wait until tomorrow and phone GP to request a home visit?

No don't go to the GP, you'll just end up giving it to a load of people with chronic illnesses who will become even sicker than you have been. Please, everyone with this common but unpleasant bug just stay home?

Phoenix, please ask your GP practice for a sample bottle, the sooner a test is done in case it is not norovirus the better.
I had a very similar experience but the norovirus that was diagnosed turned out to be campylobacter.
It can travel to the heart and brain and is very serious.
I ended up being blue lighted to hospital, thankfully the sample I’d sent off previously was fast tracked and the right antibiotics were administered.

Oh it was in the car park before you went into the shop! Not so bad then. Apparently they've been working on a jab against it for years but not a huge amount of luck as it refuses to grow in the lab without a human body.

Phoenix it doesn't matter exactly where the diarrhea happened - you were covered in germs already and everything you touched would have had at least one noro microbe on it. It's amazing just how infectious that bug is, from what I've read!

I know there's a tummy bug going around. Could be that. Hope you soon feel better Phoenix.

Headache is often due to dehydration. OH had to go into hospital with similar symptoms, but made very much worse due to dehydration. Once there he had to drink all day long and was on a drip too, so don't underestimate how much you need to drink to rehydrate. Incidentally he was told bugs affect people differently as we'd eaten the same food but he had campylobacter. Hope you are feeling better very soon Phoenix.

When I had a truly vicious tropical bug, a local doctor told me to avoid protein and fibre for a week after the symptoms had gone, so I lived on white bread and honey until I could face anything more substantial. The two times I've had norovirus, I've done the same.

I really, really cannot stand bananas!

Managed a boiled egg earlier, just hope it's on the approved list (I know it's not included in Brat) and am keeping up the dioralyte, even though the blackcurrant one is vile.

Bananas are good invalid food.

I had something like this a couple of years ago - it lasted nearly a week and I felt more dreadful as the week wore on which I think with hindsight was dehydration even though I was drinking water. Someone suggested mashed banana which was the first thing I managed to eat - when I fancied fish finger sandwiches I knew I was on the mend. Hope you feel better soon.

On the minus side you feel dreadful
On the plus side you may lose some weight (of course you may not want to)

Iam64 apparently antibiotics are no good for Norovirus, but will see how it goes and may go to see my GP on Monday.

Of course if my bottom is still playing up, I may have to replace the driving seat with a commode...........

Sorry to read this phoenix but sadly, unsurprised. The Lurgy has been striking almost all of us. I was half way through a bowl of rather good home made chicken soup when suddenly - never been so sick in my life. Off to bed -same as you, hot water bottles, heating up high, freezing cold, feet like ice blocks. Mine morphed into a hideous sinus infection so I'm on antibiotics and 4 weeks later beginning to feel a bit better

Getting very fed up with the pain, like contractions but with pain in the kidney region of my back added for good measure.

Phoenix only you could turn this sort of happening into a comedy!

I had the same thing happen to me last week, (now followed by a dreaded kidney infection [groan]) so have been barely able to raise an eyebrow, never mind a smile, but - yes, you made me chuckle. Get well soon.

We had norovirus here a few years ago. Started with me, coming out of both ends at once, then my husband started, then my disabled daughter, who, as she can`t move very quickly, was in even more of a mess than we were. Altogether, between the 3 of us, it lasted a week. I hope we never get it again.

My daughter had this and it went through her jeans and onto her sofa! Left a nasty stain too. She was ok after a few days though thankfully.

Does no one read posts? The OP has already phoned 111 and been diagnosed with norovirus by the doctor she spoke to.

Contact NHS 111 for advice This is an excellent service and helped me when I needed advice in the early hours for an unpleasant reaction I experienced from prescription meds.
