I have been listening to Radio 2 and Lulu has been the featured/interviewed artist this week.

She said that "in her head" she was still 16 and I was wondering how old the rest of us feel.

Incidentally, I'm around the same age as Lulu!

In my head, probably about 40. But physically, older than that...the mind is willing but the body is something else!

Rosina Sat 22-Feb-20 10:03:38

kittylester me too.

Mollygo Sat 22-Feb-20 10:02:25

30 sounds about right. It was a good time for us. Can’t believe how old I really am except when I‘m getting up off the floor!

I don't really understand how you can feel a different age to what you are. I am physically quite strong and never get ill. I don't let my age stop me from doing things. I am young of heart though. Oh and I smile a lot

In my mind I am 58 ( my real age) in my mirror I am a lot older .

Unfortunately I never really experienced those carefree days of youth . I was a single working mother at 18 and a widow with 2 children in my twenties . Have always cared for children and parents/grandparents and the lines on my face stand in testimony .

Sorry, I didn't mean to sound boastful about looking younger, I am far from feeling pleased with myself. It's just that being petite, people have always thought I was younger than I am; it used to drive me crazy when I was in my 20s and even 30s and kept getting asked for ID in pubs; believe it or not, I was even asked in America for ID to buy beer when I was 40! Also got asked in the bank when I was 18 where my Mum was when I opened a current account! My Mum did tell me not to worry, when I was 60 and looked 50 I would be chuffed to bits ☺

22 but my knees are 67

ReadyMeals Sat 22-Feb-20 09:56:26

That's weird, I know a lot of people say they feel younger inside than they really are, but I didn't expect it to be near on 100% of the people replying. I actually feel really old and world-weary. I get people saying to me "come on you're only 67 - people your age are still working and enjoying travel" when I say I just want a quiet life now until I die.

Beanie654321 Sat 22-Feb-20 09:54:43

I'm 61 years but feel like 21. I'm teaching grandsons how to misbehave and getting away with it. ?

Froglady Sat 22-Feb-20 09:53:00

In my head, I'm about 14 but 66 in real life. Wish I could go back to that age but with everything I know now and would certainly change a lot of things.

Grammaretto Sat 22-Feb-20 09:50:01

I met Lulu once at a CND protest rally. She's lovely and looked very young. We must have been 40ish.

She made me wanna shout.....

I blame 4 kids and years of worry. I have to say I'm only 71 incase people think I'm 10 years older!

I feel nearly the same as 18yr old me in my head.

Curlywhirly Sat 22-Feb-20 09:48:57

Well Rufus, as I say I am tiny, size 8 trousers, so possibly, look younger more from the rear than the front - think my face is more of a giveaway of my real age than my rear! curvygran950 hmm, afar - well about a few hundred yards!

Ealdemodor Sat 22-Feb-20 09:42:59

Am 60+, but feel about 40.
However, as an amateur historian, I usually sound about 103.

I don't really feel any age when I'm out and about, I'm just 'me'

However when I catch sight of my reflection in a shop window I'm shocked to see an old woman looking at me!

I was also shocked to find out that 65+ is officially geriatric!

TwiceAsNice Sat 22-Feb-20 09:20:37

I’m 66 still work part time and am very active. Feel a lot better after losing quite a lot of weight last year. Most of the time I feel as good as my daughter who is in her forties. In my head Im still about 25 I think

Dancinjay Sat 22-Feb-20 09:06:22

just read your comment Curlywhirly and all I can say is snap, I am also petite. When people tell me I look young I do think - should have gone to specsavers - lol

Dancinjay Sat 22-Feb-20 09:03:59

I am an avid reader - anything and everything ! Some times I identify with the female lead in her 30s and really feel that could be me - then wallop!*!*! realisation hits. I'm 65 - ok I am fairly fit and not wearing too badly but .... Oh well onwards and upwards.

curvygran950 Sat 22-Feb-20 09:02:22

Curlywhirly , how far is ‘afar’ ? !

curvygran950 Sat 22-Feb-20 08:58:43

I felt about 50 until I had to have new passport photos- unrecognisable old, old lady looking back at me ! Couldn’t be me surely? ( recovering from back surgery so maybe that didn’t help, or being unable to wear makeup following cataract surgery.....)
Into the shredder they went , what a waste of £6 and a big ticking off to self for being so vain .

Rufus2 Sat 22-Feb-20 08:53:07

I'm still 30 in my head, and from afar look about 10 years younger than I am
Curlywhirly Is that from the rear as well? Just asking!grin
My hair stylist says I look 15 years younger after one of his close-to-the-bone sessions and that'll be $22, mate! hmm

Iam64 Sat 22-Feb-20 08:33:53

I feel my age, in my body and my head. I'm happy being this age, much better than not being here at all.

Curlywhirly Sat 22-Feb-20 07:45:47

I'm still 30 in my head, and from afar look about 10 years younger than I am (I think, down to the fact that I am tiny) people I don't know well, are always surprised when I tell them that I am 64?. But, when I look at my face close up in the mirror (with my reading glasses on) I think I look everyone of those 64 years! Can't believe I am in my 60s, I still charge around at 100 miles an hour and can't sit still, no doubt my body will complain one day and I will have to slow down - just not yet!

NfkDumpling Sat 22-Feb-20 07:41:26

When I’m sitting in a chair, generally around early/mid forties. And constantly surprised when I go to stand up and find gravity pulling me back down.

Out walking with my nice replacement knees, mid fifties. Before my new knees? Ninety.

BlueSapphire Sat 22-Feb-20 07:35:34

Feeling 24, which is how old I was when I met DH. I'd give anything to go back to those days..... I'm 74 now!

bikergran Sat 22-Feb-20 07:30:27
