Washing soda soak for the moveable parts. Bicarb for door glass.

Do you have a bath? Put the racks in it with added soap powder.
When you do get it clean, put tin foil ( shiny side up) on the bottom. Or send off for an oven liner.

I get a professional oven cleaner .....he charges £25. Well worth it. Due to my lung condition, I cannot expose myself to strong cleaners and abrasives.

Damn!

Household detergent (the sort you dilute) mixed with old fashioned soda crystals is pretty good at breaking down grease.

My oven is really disgusting. I always have good intentions to wipe it over when it's still warm but rarely do that. I haven't got any proprietary oven cleaner to hand and I wondered if anyone had suggestions for the best alternative. I live in a flat and don't have a back door I can open to disperse harsh chemicals so that's another reason for not using the bought stuff. It also has a glass door that was once transparent!
