We've all met them - but they are probably sad under it all and need to prove something. The 'better than yours' car, holiday etc. Tiring, though, to listen to...

I have a friend like it...you have 2 choices...don't have anything to do with them (hard if they are neighbours) or pace your time and cut back on contact...and for my sanity's sake l sometimes do that!

H1954 have a look at Two Doors Down on BBC I player it features the ultimate 'one-up' neighbour but she gets it all wrong - so funny.

They are the same people who send boasting 'round robin' newsletters at Christmas. I loathe them!

Attention seekers

Shelmiss Sun 21-Jun-20 10:28:13

??? Thank you GNetters! Your responses are so entertaining! Keep it up, I love a giggle! Have a lovely day too!

I don't understand why people need to boast about what they have done or what they have - totally unnecessary.

Now you must excuse me, I am still in the dining hall and the butler needs to clear away the breakfast dishes. I also need to have a word with the chef as breakfast was not up to standard AND was served on china reserved for the servants shock

I worked with someone like that! If you had a black cat she had a blacker one!

DHs late brother was like this, always saying everything that they did was " marvellous ".

Puzzler61 Sun 21-Jun-20 09:24:02

Hey Lucca, I was christened with name Judith, and I promise I’m not like that ?

V3ra Sun 21-Jun-20 09:19:51

Lucca "Elevenerife" ???

Not a neighbour but my brother is someone who bigs up everything he tells you.
I have daffodils in my garden but he has hundreds of them...
I have three apple trees but he practically has an orchard...

And so on... ???

EllanVannin Sun 21-Jun-20 09:16:44

I think we've all met " one of THEM ". Sad people I call them, not happy unless they're bragging about something or other. Their lives can't be up to much if that's the only conversation they can muster.

Those who do have fulfilled lives don't speak about it. grin

I do have one who drones on about her latest cruise and she usually has a cruise at least 3 times a year ,the food is "amazing" the service"impeccable" and she meets people from all over who are so lovely (apart from the one where she met a man who lived 5 miles from here and she spent the rest of the cruise avoiding him) I'm not "cruise " minded ,you'd have to force me onto one and tie me to a chair to keep me on it .At least thers a bit of peace for now .

Lucca Sun 21-Jun-20 09:04:41

That’ll be Judith two sheds.
If you’ve been to Tenerife she’s been to Elevenerife.

But no my neighbours are all (well nearly) lovely

I passed the time of day with a neighbour one morning recently, keeping to the 2 metre distance rule naturally. It started out as "Good morning, are you well" etc...... the usual stuff. I don't know if it's due to lockdown but pretty soon, everything we talked about, "she had done it before", her son "knew all about this and that", her OH "had much better garden tools".......... it was relentless but she has never been like that before, well not towards me.
Anyway, I made my escape, came back into the house where my OH asked where I had been, I told him about the conversation and we had a little chuckle about it to be honest. We now call her Mrs Bucket!
Does anyone else have a neighbour like ours?
