Roof lanterns

Hi all , we are having house re modelled , not sure whether to have velux windows in flat foot or a roof lantern? The room is south facing , gets very warm in Summer can be cold in winter. We will be having better insulation, heating .Roof lanterns look good but would like options from people who have them please. Many Thanks

We have velux windows in our extension, daughter has lanterns in hers. I think it depends on the size of your new room. She has fitted drop lights inside her lanterns with glass beads in a teardrop shape, and have to admit they do look stunning.

Something like these, but hers are plain glass beads inside

Also need to think about how they will get cleaned of course.
