Knickers.

I really need some new knickers.

I like high leg, plain white cotton ones. Size 10-12. Not frumpy, but not skimpy.

My existing ones are P.....x, (well known brand). They have been very good, but have not bought any for a while as I bulk bought last lot.

Looking online however, the reviews for hopefully the same ones are not encouraging, the usual- thinner material, flimsy, just not the same quality as previous.

Any suggestions or recommendations please?

the sloggi I bought last are not as good, they wear out and become thin. I wonder if they use a thickening agent to make the cotton appear to be better quality when new. My home sewn knickers are wearing much better than sloggi and they fit very well. Easy peasy

Thanks to you all for your interesting suggestions to my OP.

Although some are favourable, it seems a shame that so many are variations on the same theme. No matter who the supplier, the quality is so often lacking- flimsier, thinner material, the quality just not what it was.

I would happily pay more if I knew I could rely on the product.

Looks like the supermarkets are well worth a try anyhow.

I've bought M&S high-leg knickers for years, for my everyday wear, but sadly the quality is no longer what it used to be. Poor quality, flimsy cotton, and the lace bit around the top frays after 2 or 3 washes (by hand!). I also tried ASDAs similar version, but found that quality even worse. Maybe I need to try Sainsbury's next time I can get back to the UK!

Bon Marche well priced, pretty cotton fabrics and comfy

Years ago I bought a pack of Sloggi knickers. They seemed expensive at the time but they are as good as new. I recently bought some Playtex ones, nice but the quality is not what I expected.
I wear trousers a lot and like my rear to be tightly controlled so like the boxer short type, but M&S ones ride up. Again, the Sloggi ones do the job.

Love Sainsbury’s hi leg lace knickers

Mmm - might try Sainsbury’s. Always wear M&S high leg but the quality isn’t as good as it used to be. They seem to be a bit flimsy nowadays.

I agree harrigan, Sainsbury’s seems to have taken over M and S for knickers and t shirts.

I found Sainsburys underwear to be more than adequate. I used to wear well known name under garments and M&S but the spuermarket ones were more comfortable possibly because they contained lycra.

I used to wear Sloggi.
Then I came across an on line a site which sold M n S overstock. Their version of Sloggi. 5 for £7. I tried one pack and found them excellent. Then did a bulk buy of white, black and nude. I rarely wear white as they can show under a white trouser and prefer to wear nude under white.

I discovered this show through when watching a lawn bowls match. Bending forward to deliver the bowl presented a wonderful show of brilliant white knickers. ?
The same for the gents underwear including my dh.

I was thinking of going commando with the recent lack of public loos, so as to be ready for action behind a bush! blush

I usually get Brazilian or high leg with a lace trim from Asda George. Live 50 miles aw from a store. I am stocking up in black and white bra and pant 'sets' for every day. They seem to wash n wear well and are comfy and look smart. I am a size 12/14. They usually cost around £7 for pack of 3.

I worked with a woman at a very large high street store, who, never wore pants! She told a group of us and then had to prove it!!
Imagine my shock a few months ago when ,She was a contestant on Bargain Hunt! Well...was she or wasn’t she???? We will never know!!!

I only ever buy Sloggi or Hema - various styles available and I have no complaints about comfort or quality.

Sparklefizz Mon 13-Jul-20 14:56:30

timetogo2016 Mon 13-Jul-20 14:53:59

boodymum67 Mon 13-Jul-20 14:52:52

I gave up wearing knickers some years ago.

Ok, I`ll tell you why...I`m a full time wheelchair user and have a pad in my trousers.....no-one knows my secret...except for you lot!

P = Playtex.

Never sure if allowed to advertise.

annep1 Mon 13-Jul-20 13:36:40

P?
I buy pretty M&S with matching bras which I wear now and again. But I much prefer my Sloggi maxis. Most comfortable pants ever.

Lexisgranny Mon 13-Jul-20 13:24:06

The most comfortable knickers I have ever worn were school knickers - grey with a slightly fleecy backing!

Lucca Mon 13-Jul-20 13:20:53

M and co are not bad.

MiniMoon Mon 13-Jul-20 13:06:23

I like the boys shorts type of knickers. I bought my last ones in M&S outlet store.

BlueSky Mon 13-Jul-20 13:00:41

Another M&S high leg cotton plain black wearer here! Quality not as previously but still good.

TwiceAsNice Mon 13-Jul-20 12:49:01

I like M&S white high leg and find they last well and are comfy. My tiny bits of lace days are long gone ?
