kittylester started a thread: "Is 75 young or old?" It kick started some great responses. It would seem that the word old, is more of a generic term than an actual definition, so, if you are brave enough, lets see those geriatric wrinkles.

Here's what 74 looks like. It helps if the photo is grainy like mine, hides a multitude of sins.

Am will be 70 next week and I am definitely not old. I walk and garden and am considerably more active than when I was working.

You look great Spangler! I’m in my mid sixties , won’t put a pic up not because I’m ashamed of how I look as I’m not , but I prefer not to put pics on here, much prefer to remain anon , I have friends that post on here and two know my user name, but others don’t, I would be recognised lol

I am 69 and consider myself older not old....

Toffeesmum Wed 16-Sept-20 10:18:29

I am 87 in body, but my mind is 25. I can still appreciate and admire a good looking young man!

Esspee Wed 16-Sept-20 10:17:56

I felt old when talking to DS1 about Lewis Capaldi reaching no.1 in the U.S. charts (he’s in the US) and it turned out he had no clue of what was topping the charts. That made him old so what did that make me?

LovelyLady Wed 16-Sept-20 10:12:37

I’m just me - not old but experienced.
It saddened me to see photos here and I haven’t read the writings of the ones who posted photos. I like to imagine how people look.
My GC consider me very very old and it’s comforting they want to visit being their form of charity (help the oldie)
I’m young and experienced and this is how I’m living.

lemsip Wed 16-Sept-20 10:11:03

'old' isn't just about how you look!

NanaPlenty Wed 16-Sept-20 10:10:29

I’m 61 and never consider myself old-I do sort of wonder when I will think I’m old. Lockdown definitely hasn’t helped with fitness levels and arthritis is creeping in. In my head I’m still about 35! ?

wales786 Wed 16-Sept-20 10:09:05

I’ll be 60 in February. I don’t feel old at all. I have 3 grandchildren 4, 6 and nine and still run around the garden chasing them ?. My 63 yr old sister always tells me to grow up ?

Charleygirl5 Wed 16-Sept-20 10:07:24

I will be 77 next week according to my birth certificate. I have very few lines on my face and two people last week asked me if I was still working full time. Actually no. From the neck up I do not feel my age.

polnan Wed 16-Sept-20 10:04:25

I agree Camklekitten.. I am older than you, but never feel my age, I am quite surprised to encounter ageism..

Canklekitten Wed 16-Sept-20 10:02:21

Age is a state of mind ... I'm 60 but feel 30 .... grow old disgracefully and enjoy every moment ?

Shinamae Wed 16-Sept-20 10:01:22

67 taken a few weeks ago

Ladyleftfieldlover Wed 16-Sept-20 09:55:34

I am 67 and this was taken a week or so ago. As I am a bit arthritic, I am okay until I start moving!

Saying someone is ‘old’ or ‘young’ is pointless. Time passes, we grow older. Generic terms like that are merely relative. When I was six, my thirty something Mum was ‘old’. Now my 54 year old brother is considerably younger than me. Of course I’m older than I was at six. I’m younger than I will be next year. So what?

The problem I think, is that we live in a culture that fetishises youth. That’s a flaw in our culture. I genuinely don’t care about trying to look ‘young’. I’ve lived every year of my life, and have built up a lifetime of experiences and memories. My grey hair and worn skin and dodgy joints are evidence that I’ve survived, and that’s sure better than the alternative.

I refuse to be old, there’s years on the clock and the face a bit lined now but inside I’m as I always was. You have to never stop being interested in life and people.

Revolucion Tue 15-Sept-20 20:52:02

My dd tells me that once you are 50 you are officially an old lady. I’m 52 so I’ve been old for a while now and can’t wait for DH to become officially old too next year.

Bellanonna Tue 15-Sept-20 20:00:37

I’m 80 in a couple of weeks. I’m definitely not old!

DanniRae Tue 15-Sept-20 19:32:58

I am 72 but am told I look much younger. However, last week we started caring for our 15 month old grandson 2 days a week. Today was one of the days and I am exhausted!!
I might not look my age but right now I feel 90 shock

NanKate Tue 15-Sept-20 18:38:56

You’re a mere babe Kitty. I will be 74 later this month and still act like a teenager at times, especially when playing football with my grandsons.

Spangler I think you look very smart. I like a well dressed man like my DH.

kittylester Tue 15-Sept-20 18:06:15

Just realised ds1 is 49 tomorrow - that's soooooo much worse than realising I'm 71!

downtoearth Tue 15-Sept-20 17:42:52

Taken in june

Nanna58 Tue 15-Sept-20 17:27:54

62- however so is Sharon Stone and I don’t look like her ( sigh!!)

Puzzled Tue 15-Sept-20 17:16:52

Before too long, I shall be 21.
For the fourth time!

We walk, help others, keep mentally and physically active.
Fortunately, our health although not perfect (Whose is?) allows us to do this.
If you think OLD, you soon will be!
Off on holiday soon!

henetha Fri 04-Sept-20 13:04:09

I'm very young for my age, - until I look in the mirror.
But I'm young inside, some might say juvenile!
I won't put a photo up because I don't know how to, but am not sure I would anyway.
