Who Gives A Crap

Does anyone here use Who Gives A Crap for their toilet roll needs. This isn't linked to me panic buying or hoarding loo roll. I'm just trying to support smaller businesses and the environment. We currently use Andrex Quilted so I'm looking for similar.

My daughter used to buy this and gave us one roll to "try at home".
We are used to Andrex and I'm afraid it wasn't so soft, irrespective of what it's made of. Not even as soft as the not-so-nice Andrex version.

We have all got a bit ‘soft’ over the years haven’t we?
Come on, I bet most of us GN’ers were brought up on good old Izal!
Our bums were made of sterner stuff back in the 50’s and 60’s.

The company says ‘ We donate 50% of our profits to help build toilets for those in need.’

I read an article the other day about a family who don't use loo roll. They are trying to stop producing so much waste . They use squares of rags/ old clothes, place in a bucket and wash and recycle. I thought it was interesting and I admire their care for the environment. They said they keep a loo roll for visitors in case they are not happy with the alternative arrangement.

Why buy Chinese when you can buy British? Nothing much better than Andrex anyway.

Thanks for the confirmation that Andrex is from the UK. As well as the environmental issues, I don't really want to support the Chinese economy over our own - anymore than I already do through other products!

Shipping it in from China, when we have a perfectly good equivalent in this country, isn't very good for the carbon footprint is it?

midgey Fri 02-Oct-20 19:19:13

Daughter has this. I think the quality is very poor!

PamelaJ1 Fri 02-Oct-20 19:16:53

An ad. has just come up at the top of the page. I hope the owners of the company are aware of our comments re. China.

I considered this a couple of years ago when WGAC was all the rage among friends but I discounted it because of the China connection and also the transport miles involved.

I live in an area where trees are grown as a crop for paper and where there are paper processing plants so to buy from China was a bit coals to Newcastle!

We used to get them before I realised they were made in China.
I’m trying so hard not to buy from there.

grandMattie Fri 02-Oct-20 17:48:30

My DD does. I have found that the quality isn't as thick as even the cheapest of Sainsbury's stuff. Depends what you want, really.

PinkCakes Fri 02-Oct-20 17:42:04

BUY

I wouldn't want to but stuff from China

My only experience of Chinese toilet rolls was early in the pandemic when not being able to purchase them we resorted to an online supplier. The rolls seemed a bargain until we realised that yes there were 20 of them but really tiny rolls! Still at the time we were glad to have anything!

Barmeyoldbat Fri 02-Oct-20 17:30:27

I buy it, its lovely, soft and made from bamboo even the wrapping is paper. I have a subscription and a box arrives every 3 months. No worries about shortage and the cat loves the empty box.

CocoPops Fri 02-Oct-20 17:13:58

I would not buy because they are made in China. Andrex is made in the UK.

MawB2 Fri 02-Oct-20 16:49:43

My daughters and all their London friends, plus friends’ mothers. A brilliant idea!

Bellanonna Fri 02-Oct-20 16:48:53
