There is no more they can do about Andrew, he doesn’t carry out any royal duties.
Please help! (grandchild being locked in bedroom)
Sometimes it’s just the small things that press the bruise isn’t it? 😢
AIBU I cannot believe this. The royal train costs a fortune. The only good this will do is bolster the RF. The number of folk in dire straits is unbelievable-how on earth will a visit from this pampered pair help I wonder?

I think too much fuss has been made about this trip. Why on earth would it encourage people to break the rules
They were just doing what's expected of them and all necessary precautions were taken. All their movements were made public. People were not forced to turn out to welcome them.
I am a monarchist but do not hero worship them. I'm quick to criticise if I think they are taking the piss flaunting their privilege.
I think they are trying hard to move with the times but I fear Covid has almost made the RF redundant. The suits at the palace will hopefully be aware that the mood of the 'people' may have changed and when we finally emerge from all this they will have to be prepared to add frustrating restrictions to the list of grievances including Prince Andrew's behaviour and Megxit.
It will be interesting to see how the monarchy moves forward given that the Queen and D of E might not be around for much longer.
The idea that the Royals have magical healing powers persists throughout the ages. A Royal visit is said to lift spirits and boost morale and is a widely held belief for some. It’s harmless really although I agree that travelling during restrictions is ill advised and I am hard pushed to call what they did “work”. However, congratulations to the small number of people who benefited from the novelty of it all.
It would never cross my mind to be so daft as to think 'if William and Kate can do it so can I'. I doubt if anyone else would think that either. There's a world of difference between a private royal train and bog standard public transport. However, for those that like to do down the work of the Royal family I'm sure they were happy to think that one up.
Only if we can travel by royal train though trisher as I wouldn’t fancy travelling any other way, but I don’t fancy having to meet and greet strangers along the way or pay visits
To hospitals or shop floors or schools and take an interest in their varied jobs/ doings etc.I would rather stay in the warm and read my book ( as would they probably).
“ but I do have an ever increasing respect for the Queen, Prince Philip, Princess Anne, the Wessexes and the Cambridges, which they have earned through their own actions and behaviour.” But it’s often more than this, isn’t it ? So many people say things like isn’t our queen wonderful? Why is she ? And Prince Philip has a certain history of a)infidelity (I knew someone who was oncè part of the Queens Flight who told us Philip definitely “put it about a bit”. and b) tactless remarks verging on racism.

I wonder how many people who were thinking they would stay at home for Christmas have now looked at this marathon trip and thought "B** it I'm going to......". If there is a surge in January can we blame W&K?
Maybe you're right there?
Is it only the British who look to blame? Blame Kate & William, blame Boris, blame Matt H etc. Blame the students, blame the young people, blame the hospitality trade. etc.
They are doing a fantastic job moving the Royal Family with the times. They absolutely boost morale wherever they go, and for those they encounter. They are a far more caring pair who both display such empathy....much more than many folk in this country.
There are other Royals who people could choose to criticise, but not these two. They have done so much over the last 10 months, (and far more behind the scenes than most of us realise, by all accounts).
This week Kate met a gentleman who cares for his disabled wife, and it was revealed she has personally telephone him twice over these difficult months. You only need to hear his comments to realise the good they are doing.

Same for me eazybee but I include The Prince of Wales and
the Duchess of Cornwall.
Kate will never be princess Catherine but she will be queen consort so will have the title queen Catherine.
I agree with you Lucca don't know why RF are hero worshipped either.
They are all dullards
And was this essential work this is not work the RF don't work hard in fact they hardly work at all.
And Kate Middleton wants to be called Catherine, but who pays any attention to that.
I do not feel hero worship for any member of the royal family, but I do have an ever increasing respect for the Queen, Prince Philip, Princess Anne, the Wessexes and the Cambridges, which they have earned through their own actions and behaviour.
Irrelevant to some people, I know, but on the subject of titles and protocol, it is Diana, Princess of Wales. She was not, nor ever would be, Princess Diana, as the BBC persist in calling her.

Lucca No here worship whatsoever because HM is our Head of State and they are representing her.
I hear that Trump is going around the White House singing that Roger Whittaker ditty The Last Farewell.
"There's a ship lies rigged and ready in the harbor
Tomorrow for old England she sails
Far away from your land of endless sunshine
To a land full of rainy skies and gales…"
Be afraid, be very afraid ...
I meant generally not just William and Kate.
On the ‘call me Catherine’ question, she was putting the person at ease.Titles, protocol etc do exist obviously, be it
Your Worship, Reverend, Your Excellency, Your Highness, Sir,
Or whatever, it’s the public office/ position we are respecting, rather than the person behind it.

Seeing the Queen chatting to Kate and William yesterday evening, I did wonder if she were asking them nostalgically about their trip.
??
I'm looking forward to this Lucca
Nor me Lucca.
I know I’ll get lynched but genuine question, why do people go all hero worship about the royal family? Just call me Catherine ..how wonderful...it’s her name !
I wouldn’t prefer president trump before anyone suggest it.
I just honestly don’t see what is so great about any of them
Some lovely pictures of William and Kate visiting Bath. A young lad recovering from cancer and his family met them at the station. Then the royal pair visited a dementia care home in a very poor area and met residents and staff with a local choir playing outside. Afterwards they went across the road to talk to school children who had gathered. They all looked delighted. A wonderful morale booster.

I did know Doria.
And Frogmore
And Archie
I must be a loyal royalist
Or just read gossip.
Same here!
I would like to clarify one point. The Welsh Minister Vaughan Gethin, at no point said that he was speaking on behalf of the Welsh government. However, his words made better copy than those of the Welsh Secretary, Simon Hart who backed the visit saying “It was great to see their Royal Highnesses in Cardiff.”
As one who lives in Wales I cannot say I have heard any dissent at all. I would add that I do not identify as a Royalist, but I do believe in fair play.
Tut tut Paddyanne you told us you photographed the royals
and if the tax payer funds the royals you were paid with tax payers money
