Just curious to know what you all set your heating thermostat to?
OH is rather nesh and given half a chance would have the heating running quite high all day, I, a n the other hand, turn it down and put a woolly on.
What do you do?

Hetty58 Wed 06-Jan-21 22:32:12

17 in the daytime and 14 at night is just right for me. In the past, others have found it chilly here!

harrigran Wed 06-Jan-21 22:19:50

Set at 22 degrees and is on 24/7 , the bedroom radiators have thermostats on so they don't get as hot as downstairs.

grandMattie Wed 06-Jan-21 22:03:38

15dag. Starts at 0530 because I sleep badly and riseearly, off at 2200. It is rarely on in the day although it is possible...

crazyH Wed 06-Jan-21 21:41:41

Constant 20

SueDonim Wed 06-Jan-21 21:39:51

It’s 21.5 in our kitchen right now. Warmer in the sitting room as I’ve made a splendid fire.

Juliet27 Wed 06-Jan-21 21:04:00

20 degrees on at 6.30 am off at 10.30 am. On again at 4 pm and off ar 10.30 pm

Urmstongran Wed 06-Jan-21 21:03:21

I’m not sure. I’d better check with the staff.

Pantglas2 Wed 06-Jan-21 20:57:41

We’re south facing so temperatures can’t be set other than on a daily basis depending on sunshine (or not).

We’re pretty well insulated as well, so go on a day-to-day basis and won’t set heating to come on til around 8am for an hour and then off until the end of the day depending on our whereabouts, with us both being retired.

We’ve replaced the gas fire in the sitting room for an electric fire which is switched on during the day as and when we need it - at the moment, rarely more than 15 minutes in any afternoon.

tanith Wed 06-Jan-21 20:23:29

Mines set on constant at 13* I turn it up to 15* when I get up and then up to 18* at about 5pm till 8 takes ages to cool down. My house is warm and so am I.

grannyrebel7 Wed 06-Jan-21 20:21:44

20 degrees here. Goes on about 2pm and off about 10pm. OH always complaining about being too hot but he's finally given in as it's got so much colder. Win win situation smile

Georgesgran Wed 06-Jan-21 20:17:04

Our thermostat is in the hall, but it’s a big area with galleried landing - I don’t think the temperature ever gets up to where it’s set there, so the actual rooms just get hotter and hotter! DH feels the cold, so if I get too warm I go into the little snug to watch tv/cool down.

TrendyNannie6 Wed 06-Jan-21 20:11:25

Rads have separate thermos but main thermostat set at 20

Oopsadaisy1 Wed 06-Jan-21 20:11:12

I had to thump our thermostat last night as it was stuck on high and the boiler was running full pelt. Normally I try to keep it to 19 but DH turns it up as he passes by.......
Off at night though and comes on at 5.30 which now I think about it was for when DH was working, so I must adjust the timer tonight as we def aren’t up that early any more.

Nanna58 Wed 06-Jan-21 20:10:43

30 degrees- that’s the temperature I was born to function at !!!!!!?

Nannylovesshopping Wed 06-Jan-21 20:10:18

22 in every room, hate being cold ?

Jaxjacky Wed 06-Jan-21 20:10:01

Comes on at 6:30, usually off at 8:30 and off at 20:30, but I’ve been overriding the timer during the day if I’m sitting and cold. I have Raynauds and need my extremities kept warm, thermostat at 22 in living room.

WOODMOUSE49 Wed 06-Jan-21 20:08:49

No central heating. Range and wood burner (one room tiny cottage with mezzanine level for small bedroom. 14° past three mornings. sad

In our new house, to be, we still don't have central heating but have installed a heat recovery unit.

sodapop Wed 06-Jan-21 20:03:55

No central heating here but we do have a new pellet burner which is very efficient. I don't like to be too warm.

lemongrove Wed 06-Jan-21 20:00:13

20 during the day and we set it to 21 for the evenings, as it’s colder if sitting reading/watching tv etc.
Comes on at 6a.m and goes off at 10.30.pm.

GrandmaKT Wed 06-Jan-21 19:44:20

18 degrees in the hall, and the heating is set to come on at 7:30 and go off at 8pm. We do supplement the central heating with a gas fire in the lounge in the evening. We have the radiator thermostats set to low upstairs.

kircubbin2000 Wed 06-Jan-21 19:40:56

21.5 when needed. I turn it off at night and when the room is too warm.

Maggiemaybe Wed 06-Jan-21 19:40:41

Ours comes on at 17 degrees from 9am, going up to 19 from 5pm till 10.30. We only need to override that if it’s very cold outside, but anything over 20 and we’re too warm very quickly. It’s usually off at night, but has been known to click in if it’s bitterly cold.

MissAdventure Wed 06-Jan-21 19:31:07

I'm not sure as the numbers have worn off my dial.
I don't enjoy being too hot though.

MamaCaz Wed 06-Jan-21 19:29:34

More important than the thermostat setting is the actual room temperature. There can be a big difference between the two.
