My 7yr old Grandson Louis is to have surgery for a brain tumour tomorrow we are all distressed and trying to stay positive here as they live abroad.

Please give him positive thoughts or a prayer if you could please
Thank you

That's wonderful news Tanith, children have an amazing capacity to bounce back, just as they can go downhill so quickly. We will continue to pray for good results from the tumour pathology, but I am so relieved for all of you.

UPDATE..

So after ‘prodding’ my son this morning (boys and communicating?)

Louis had some of his lines removed and has managed to eat and drink a little today, he’s talking normally, a relief after yesterdays hallucinations so step by step he’s on the upward road.

I can’t tell you what a relief all his U.K. family feel it’s like we’ve been holding our breathe for a week. So onwards and upwards to the next hurdle test results on the tumour.

Thank you all for your kindness I’m sure the power of positivity helps in situations like this and I know his large extended family, school and friends have been praying for him also as they are very much part of their community.

Thanks for the updates tanith I don’t know you but I had a few tears of relief isn’t it funny how even strangers can get involved
Each day should bring an improvement hopefully today better than yesterday

Great that he’s awake and aware, sleep is very healing following any ‘insult to the brain’ as doctors sometimes call it. Wishing Louis a great recovery.

Thinking of Louis today tanith and hoping there is progress in his recovery. ?

Keeping Louis in my thoughts today. I hope he has had a good rest overnight and continues his recovery. Warm wishes to you too Tanith - be kind to yourself today.

Wishing you well.

It's day one - if he's awake that's the best news ever at this stage, and children do bounce back very quickly, even from major surgery like this. You wait, it won't be long before he's sitting up in bed and chatting to you over zoom ?

Still in my thoughts and prayers, all of you xx

Tanith

He is awake! That's amazing! Baby steps are the way to go

CherryCezzy Thu 25-Mar-21 15:55:04

Thank you tanith for updating us. I'm pleased Louis is awake. Please try not to worry about his disorientation and confusion, it is normal because of the morphine and the operation itself. That will ease off as he recovers. I will continue to keep him, you and the rest of your family in my thoughts.

TrendyNannie6 Thu 25-Mar-21 14:43:36

Poor little love, sending positive thoughts for little Louis and his family xx

tanith please do keep updating us. We are willing him well.
My DH was on morphine in hospital recently to help him cope with pain from broken ribs. He too was very disoriented, talked about being moved to a different ward (he wasn’t) about having not seen the physio (he had) he was very forgetful and not himself at all. The morphine can do that so try not to be too worried. Hoping he is more himself soon.

Pleased to hear Louis is awake flowers

LauraNorder Thu 25-Mar-21 14:28:57

Thank you Tanith for the update. I’m sure you’ll be relieved when the drugs wear off and Louis becomes more himself again.
Please don’t take down the thread unless you want to. I’m amazed at how much we’ve all got to ‘know’ each other and care about others and their families.
Of course we will all want to hear as Louis progresses and to share the joy that will follow this period of worry and heartache for you.

Gannygangan Thu 25-Mar-21 14:22:19

Great news that he came out of the operation well, tanith

That's the hard part over!

Natural to be a tad groggy and agitated after such an op.

Do let us know how he progresses.

hulahoop Thu 25-Mar-21 14:22:08

On bless him it will all be very confusing for him hopefully when anaesthetic drugs are out of his system he will be more aware of what's happening xx

Whitewavemark2 Thu 25-Mar-21 14:20:40

One thing is he won’t remember any of the days immediately after surgery, so restraining his hands is distressing but not to him.

Ever onwards!

Aveline Thu 25-Mar-21 14:20:15

Thanks for the update Tanith. We are all willing Louis through this. What a distressing time for you all. Poor wee boy. Its very early days yet and I'm sure he's having the very best of care.

kittylester Thu 25-Mar-21 14:17:17

Thank you for updating Tanith. We have a couple of 7 year olds so can imagine how distressing it is for you. Sending gentle hugs.
