Ignore fads. The only way to go is to reduce carbohydrates (not just obvious sugars) and move more (it doesn't need to be gym-style exercise). This will also help if you need to lose weight, which is the best thing you can do to help yourself.

'Reverse Your Diabetes' by Dr Cavan is brilliant. Its a low carb diet basically, but well worth reading. I got mine s/h on Amazon for £1.25 in near perfect condition.

I believe the 5:2 diet has been incredibly successful in reversing type 2 diabetes in people who followed it religiously.

Add a teaspoon of Ceylon cinnamon a day to your diet.

My husband always had cereal for breakfast. He swapped that for scrambled eggs served with one crispbread and his levels went right down.

You don’t mean the EatWell plate do you? Cos that’s an abomination!

NHS have websites which are very helpful regarding health and diets for certain conditions. Eat well NHS Eat better for your body One you NHS. I discovered all this when my husband became diabetic.

We’re your readings wildly different?

Morning readings are higher - I wouldn’t be happy with 9. Need to be under 7.5.

As Msida says, cut the carbs and use your monitor to find out what other foods affect you. Don’t forget that porridge is carby too - I know it used to be recommended to eat that as it’s low GI.

Thank you appreciate the information, I don't eat white bread, do eat rice though and sometimes pasta.

Ohh I thought 9 was quite high because it used to be 5 and 6 thank you

Lastly I ha3two monitors because I have just bought a new one and they both gave different readings??

9 is OK for morning jab before breakfast. My consultant once said to me that if it is below 10 most of the time then that's fine, and I'm Type 1.

Cut the carbs. No white bread , rice, potatoes etc. Very effective

Hi folks just wanted to ask if anyone has any tips on getting your blood sugar levels down

I usually add extra exercise and that normally helps but it's not being as effective as it normally is and I'm a bit worried about it

My morning blood tests are saying 9

Would appreciate any advice

Thank you
