Sadly, a lovely poster grandmajet passed away earlier this month. She was a regular in The Argy Bargy Bar, was amusing and made light of her situation when ill, her daughter has let us know.
We are having a celebration night for her in The Argy on Friday night this week, all welcome.smile

I'm just pleased that the person who spent a lot of time above ground with an accessory has gone. She/he/someone caused a lot of upset.

Stumped ! grin
Any clues ?

Along with those mentioned in Terribull's post, who I also wish well, has anyone heard from EllanVannin recently ?

I wrote a PM to her but it was rejected as undeliverable, sadly.

Thank you Ashcombe and Marydoll for clarifying. I miss EV and her acerbic wit, but she was always kind and supportive to others.

Took me minute there Milli22! grin

Didn’t Bradfirdlass become Kaimoana ?

Marydoll Wed 30-Jun-21 21:35:39

I have feeling, Bradfordlass changed her name recently. Members of the Lockdown Gang may be able to confirm.

Gosh I sound like a Know it all, I will retreat back into my corner!!! wink

Chewbacca Wed 30-Jun-21 21:27:01

MissA posted only this week!

Juliet27 Wed 30-Jun-21 21:17:23

I fear you are right Marydoll sad

Sort of guessed Marydoll sad, I miss EV.

I miss her too. She has always been very supportive of me, when I was struggling.

Marydoll Wed 30-Jun-21 21:03:10

Sorry, Alegrias, I think a guide book would be useless. wink No matter how careful one tries to be in writing a post, there will be someone who misinterprets/ misunderstands/ doesn't read properly what has been written and gets the wrong end of the stick. Sadly I know that to my cost.

EV told me that she was on a final warning, I guess you have your answer, if your PM was undeliverable. Such a pity! sad
She was in her eighties, living on her own, with lots of family worries. The caring face of Gransnet!

Alegrias1 Wed 30-Jun-21 20:53:15

Perhaps we should have a guide book, or style book; things that you might say that might cause another poster to accuse you of monitoring the thread.

Its a conversation, for goodness sake! I don't think Fanny was overstepping the mark.

There’s a hell of a lot of sensitivity going on here! I don’t give a knickers who posts, or when and how often I post. If people read my comments, fine, if not, it’s no skin off my nose.
It’s open for anyone to post until they cross a line and for me I either join in here with daily doings or thoughts or keep a diary as I used to.
It’s good to read about other peoples ups and downs and as a previous poster said, it has been a blessing through lockdown, particularly if you live alone.

Chewbacca Wed 30-Jun-21 19:56:11

I think so lavenderzen.

Eviebeanz Wed 30-Jun-21 19:55:56

I read the posts sometimes-only started during the first lockdown. Have posted a couple of times. It feels as if some of the more regular posters are a great source of support to one another especially those who haven't been able to get out due to being clinically vulnerable or other health reasons. I do like the way the group ask after other regular posters. At one stage I did post about something that was causing me distress at the time and others were kind in their responses.

Grannycool52 Wed 30-Jun-21 19:47:32

I love Gransnet & read the active posts most days.
One thing I have noticed is that a lot of posters (not actually the most regular ones) assume in their posts that everyone lives in England. Posts are started about something happening in England with no clear explanation for the rest of us and it's not always easy to know ( even for me who grew up in England) what the context is.
Also, when those resident elsewhere make a comment, it is often ignored and the subsequent posters will tend to refer back to the previous England-based poster. It's a bit off-putting, to be honest.
Another thing I noticed was that recently a lovely and frequent poster from Northern Ireland used one N.I. colloquialism in a substantial post and got a put-down for it from an England-based poster.
I am not at all complaining about the very regular posters, who are invariably well-mannered, just a few who deter me and perhaps others from posting.

For heavens sake FC it is obvious Jane didn't mean to be insensitive, what on earth is the matter with you! Do you feel you have to monitor the site?

FannyCornforth Wed 30-Jun-21 19:30:20

Jane it does happen. I know, it's very sad

Whilst we are thinking of absent posters, I hope another long term member, Phoenix, is doing OK. I know she was rather poorly a while ago. Best wishes if you see this Phoenix.

I’m sure Phoenix posted recently: she might have said she’d had shingles but don’t quote me on it.
