GPs again!!

How awful for you and your husband. Phone consultations are a scourge.. my go cannot even get my name right on prescriptions. Theres a lack of care nowadays for certain. Complain to practice manager or there is a PALS in every hospital. Patient liaison office. I do hope hes feeling better. Did they use heparin to clear the clots.

I have a very similar situation. I had blood clots on the lungs that went undiagnosed for weeks and ended up with me in hospital. I was told that its actually very difficult to diagnose, but my point of view was that as a previously healthy 50-year old they should have paid more attention to the situation.

I complained to the practice manager and eventually the Ombudsman. The reply I got from the Ombudsman was non committal but the doctor in question retired very shortly afterwards. I hope it was something to do with me complaining.

On the positive side, the treatment I had in hospital was exemplary. I'm sorry to hear that something very similar has happened to your OH and I hope he feels better soon.

DH had a blood clot in his leg and was just prescribed antibiotics.

User7777 I have no idea. All I know is he is waiting for a bed currently and getting fed up! He had an injection in his stomach earlier. I just feel I should make the GPs aware that perhaps breathing difficulties should be actually seen and not dealt with over the phone. I don't want to get anyone into trouble just make them aware of my husband situation.

The injection in his stomach was probably heparin, they had to teach me to do it for myself for a while after I left hospital

If he's feeling fed up that's probably a good sign!

On the whole we have been very happy with the follow up phone calls after doing eConsult. Phone calls have been the same day.

The doctor, all but one time, has booked a face to face the next day. The exception was when I'd sent photos.

We find with the eConsult route, we are getting the face to face appointments far quicker than before covid. Even then, there are no guarantees you get the right treatment. My DH wasn't prescribed antibiotics until 5 weeks after seeing the doctor.

I'm shocked your doctor didn't do a face to face examination.

I complained to a Practice Manager about the lack of prompt action with our step mother a couple of years ago. It was impossible as they would not accept my complaint. It would have had to come from our step mother herself or her Power of Attorney.
