I should think this funny maybe. And i am not so mad, more embarrassed.
Today, car showroom.
H. (61) and me sit opposite the car sales man.
Attractuve 20 sometbing walks over passing by h, to pass papers to salesman.
H. (loudly) "wow"
Short paause of silence
H. "You can sell me a car anyday".
20 simething shimmers away back to her desk.
Me.( Trying think im not sat there so speechless.)
Sakesman (muttering to desk quuetly)
"she does sell a lot of cars".
Silent pause again..
Salesman (embarrased, trying not to look at both of us but focusses on the computer screen instead)
"now, where were we?"

Now pse tell me girls. I know. Men will be men. Your response would be....

Ugh. Just ugh. Your husband definitely needs talking to.

Oh dear, what a non-event
Embarrassing for all concerned (except OP’s DH I assume)
Out of order at any age, not witty, not amusing, not terribly original either.
There is something very sleazy but also pathetic about a middle-aged man who thinks he is the answer to a maiden’s prayer - think Weinstein, Salmond , Prince Andrew and shudder.
In OP’s place I would be trying to forget it ever happened., but she seems amused by it. confused

No far from it. It felt awful. We were all cringing apart from h.
What is even worse he cannot see that. And I truly did not know what to say or even do after, so I left them to it and sat in the car. I am so glad it seems the ladies in here would have been as mortified as me.

crazyH Tue 31-Aug-21 21:29:52

How embarrassing for the OP. Did they buy a car , I wonder ?

SeaNain Tue 31-Aug-21 21:29:28

Eviebeanz

Did you speak to your H about it later? What did he say?

Just he meant nothing and was sorry if it embarrassed me. It embarrassed the salesman, whuch was worse i think. He really couldnt look at us after and I made an excuse and sat in the car. And Ive not really spoken to him much since, its second time he has done something like this, I am going to have the 'its 2021" conversation with him if things continue. But to me its an obvious thing, like you just dont do that now. I wrote it like an awful Benny Hill clip, because it felt like that.

dogsmother Tue 31-Aug-21 21:26:32

Probably I’d have laughed in his face and told him off for turning into a dirty old man.

SueDonim Tue 31-Aug-21 21:18:00

I’d have walked out and gone home. I’d feel utterly humiliated if my Dh said anything like that. As someone said earlier, your dh is lucky not to have been called out for sexual harassment.

Eviebeanz Tue 31-Aug-21 21:08:12

@SeaNain - is he like this all the time?

TrendyNannie6 Tue 31-Aug-21 21:04:48

I think it was really childish to be honest, I’m sure the girl was embarrassed, I think he should have kept his thoughts to himself, I wouldn’t be very impressed,

SeaNain Tue 31-Aug-21 21:03:54

Thank you, exactly. It is 2021. I was hoping someone would think same as me. Its why i went for some air, was too embarassed.

ginny Tue 31-Aug-21 21:03:50

I’d have been extremely embarrassed and annoyed if it had been my husband . I would have told him so too.

Summerlove Tue 31-Aug-21 21:03:32

Yuck.

Boys will be boys is the worst.

Eviebeanz Tue 31-Aug-21 21:01:42

Did you speak to your H about it later? What did he say?

SeaNain Tue 31-Aug-21 20:59:05

I was. I did. And I think you are tight, the three of us were embarrassed, me, the girl snd the salesman.

SeaNain Tue 31-Aug-21 20:56:52

I guess us Nans. It is good sometimes to ssk how others would be. Times change and I guess we all would respond differently.

Eviebeanz Tue 31-Aug-21 20:54:43

Op didn't say if this is "normal for him"...

SeaNain Tue 31-Aug-21 20:54:10

FannyCornforth

So reading back, I think that you want us to vote on whether, in that situation, we would be:

1. amused
2. angry
3. embarrassed

Is that right?

Yes please. Though I was all 3.

Blossoming Tue 31-Aug-21 20:50:44

Eviebeanz me too. Slimy old creep.

Doodle Tue 31-Aug-21 20:48:55

In this day and age, from the sort of thing I read in the papers, he’s lucky he’s lucky she didn’t report him for sexual harassment.

Sago Tue 31-Aug-21 20:43:07

Did you find Bernard Manning and Benny Hill funny?

Perhaps you thought Jimmy Saville was just a bit too “ handsy”

You are either a troll or very stupid…. It’s 2021 for crying out loud.

Eviebeanz Tue 31-Aug-21 20:40:52

I would have given him a karate chop to the throat

kittylester Tue 31-Aug-21 20:39:23

Or any of the boys that post on this site might have an opinion.

Nonogran Tue 31-Aug-21 20:37:04

I’d be soooo embarrassed. I’d have had a right go at him in the car going home. It was so non PC.
Your man’s a sexist prat & I expect the saleswoman thought the same.

Callistemon Tue 31-Aug-21 20:34:32

Now pse tell me girls

Which girls would that be?

SeaNain Tue 31-Aug-21 20:34:23

FannyCornforth

Your vowel keys seem to be all over the shop.
Fortunately, your skill with speech marks is admirably holding up.

Why did you need the fresh air?
Were you angry?
This sort of thing might be a bit ‘sweet’ with a man in their 90s, but 61?

I got from gobsmacked to did that really happen, to embarassed to mad.
