Veins on back of the knee

Hello
Does anyone get veins that come out periodically and are painful at the back of the knee.
I've had RA since I was 16 hence the swollen knee and the vein issue for about 2 years on and off.
Thank you
Just wondered why they stick out

Neen, this could be down to walking or standing for long periods and looks like a varicose vein.
Have it checked out by a doctor!!

You can have them stripped, I think.

Yes, Callistemon, you can.
Day surgery do it.

Neen, if left they 'can' become blocked and cause blood clots, so please do see your doctor for more information or, if really worried or if hurting, then your local A&E!!

I thought varicose veins are now regarded as cosmetic and have to be removed privately?

Thank you everyone. I hadn't heard of varicose veins.
