I often feel very low on waking especially now the mornings are darker. During summer time I sleep with the curtains open so I can catch the daylight. Thinking of purchasing a SAD daylight light and would appreciate knowing if any one uses one and do they help?

I can't say from personal experience but I believe they are very good and I would definitely get one if I needed it. There are instructions on how to use them and how long for. Just Google 'sad lamps' and you'll find loads of information and advice.

Do contact the SAD. Association, they will advise on light boxes, I used one for years when I lived in a cottage with small
Windows.

I use one that comes on gradually in the morning, simulating the sunrise. It’s a nice awakening, but I don’t know if it makes me feel better for the rest of the day though.

Thank you for your responses. I have googled and Anniebach I appreciate your suggestion about contacting the Sad.Association. once I am up and showered my mood improves and I then take a walk or potter about in the garden . Being outside makes a massive difference.

Everyone is different - I prefer a dark bedroom.

CrazyH , you are very fortunate. There was a time when I couldn't bear even the slightest light creeping into the bedroom. Strange how things change - must be me getting older !!!

Shelflife I was told by a consultant the cause of SAD is lack of light reaching back of eyes and if weather to miserable for walking to stand at front/back door several times a day.

Hope you find good advice re light boxes
