Hello I need some suggestions for what to give my daughter in law as a baby shower present. I have the usual baby clothes, silly gift. But want something special.

How exciting to welcome a new grandchild. A gift for a new mother to be that is really sweet is a new baby cake - not edible but a tower of nappies and other things - check it out at - nappycakeshop.co.uk/3-tier-welcome-little-one-peter-rabbit-nappy-cake/?sku=SKU-F8FFA237&gclid=Cj0KCQjw_fiLBhDOARIsAF4khR2OKyWAoeQCZqTN8sAkyh3RGZd87DyANk4b9P4CiE6_Fco9zd3ssuAaAmN3EALw_wcB

I always buy the expectant Mum a gift too, a meal voucher goes down well, preferably delivery for after the birth.

a pamper hamper for the Mum.

Can you get vouchers for their favourite takeaway?

I got my DD a deep clean of her oven, I know that sounds weird but she has never been so grateful for a gift. I booked it for just before due date as she was nesting! She still talks of that gift now?

Something a bit different,

Can you ask them? I find getting something I want better than duplicates or something I'm never going to use.

I agree with asking them too

Love the oven idea and I agree meal vouchers always useful - in that initial stage the ability to order food is always welcome- I also made meals for the freezer and homemade cake was always welcome

A pamper day at a spa always goes down well either just before or after the birth or some essential oils to help relaxation during labour available from JL baby department they come in lovely presentation boxes.

With regards to the pamper day I would be wary.
That would involve leaving the baby and that may not be something that the mum is comfortable doing before the expiration date of the voucher.

We unfortunately had a few such gifts expire for this reason. Date nights, cinema experiences etc

Definitely ask your son what would be most useful to them. If they remain silent, I don't think you can ever go wrong with take away vouchers.

I know that the majority here despise gift registries, but in situations like this I find them so helpful! I want to buy gifts the couple actually wants, vs what I think I want to give them.

I would say a pamper voucher for something like a manicure or even a hairdresser's voucher that can be used before or after the birth.
How about a DIY babysitting voucher ? Promising that you will babysit for so many hours as needed?

I bought a matching keepsake box and book for things like first tooth, hair curl etc.

OP

You know what kind of person she is

Pampering gifts may or not match her personality

In doubt, ask your son
