Bath towels or bath sheets?

Which do you use? I take my own bath sheet to self catering holiday accommodation in case only a bath towel is provided.

Bath sheets since the DC left home. It was bath towels before that because the thought of laundering six bath sheets each time was just too much! I dry and go, don’t ‘wear’ the sheet, but it’s nice to envelope myself in warmth as I step out of the bath.

Sheets both at home and in our holiday let.

A towel, not sure what sort, just a towel. Brisk dry off and dress.

Bath towel, bath sheets far too big for me.

Elegran Mon 01-Nov-21 11:23:18

Towels get larger and thicker every decade. Bath towels used to be a luxury you only met in a hotel, now they are apparently too small!

Even terry hand towels were a luxury once. Before terry towelling was invented, towels were flat-surfaced and made of linen. They scraped you dry rather than dabbing away the moisture. Probably very good for the skin.

Good grief you all live in a different world to me a towel is a towel is a towel whatever comes to hand I ve never ever heard the term ‘bath sheet’

Bath sheet every time! (We take them to self-catering places, too.) We have M&S ones, which have lasted for years.

I've had bath sheets for so long now, probably 30+ years, that they don't seem particularly large to me. I don't wander round in a towel after a shower, I just think that a bath sheet dries more of one in one go. so less time spent in the bathroom, which, however much it's heated, always feels cold after getting out of a warm shower.

My OH was a bit sniffy about them at first, his family had never used them, but he was soon converted... grin

Oh yes, my OH had never met bath sheets when we married too, and continues to use a bath towel when he showers. (I'm a bath- soak girl?).

I ditched bath towels years ago once I discovered bath sheets.

icanhandthemback Mon 01-Nov-21 10:06:32

Bathsheet every time...the bigger the better!

grandMattie Mon 01-Nov-21 09:59:10

Bath sheets for us - we are all tall, just under to very over 6’!

I use small bath towels rather than hand towels; the latter get wet and dirty so quickly.

MissAdventure Mon 01-Nov-21 09:58:05

Whatever comes to hand for me.
Smaller is better, from a washing point of view, so a hand towel, usually.

Someone I know used to dry off a bit in the shower with a dry flannel first! Seemed practical to me I suppose.

I’ve stopped buying hand towels (too big) and buy smaller ‘guest’ towels now.

Riverwalk Mon 01-Nov-21 09:41:02

Seems to be two types - those who lounge around in bath sheets and those like me with towels who just dry and go! grin

Bath sheet every time! Particularly useful when going to the pool for aqua class or swim. Never use a bath towel.

nadateturbe Mon 01-Nov-21 09:38:53

I'm just over 5' but definitely bath sheet. Warmer. I also put a fan heater on in the bedroom so I can dry in front of it. (And yes we have central heating)

Urmstongran Mon 01-Nov-21 09:37:50

It used to be a bath towel ... when I as slim. Now it’s a bath sheet and has been for years!

Auntieflo Mon 01-Nov-21 09:36:27

I did like a bathsheet to wrap around me while I cleaned the shower.
But, since a friend mentioned it, I now wrap up in my towelling dressing gown. Much cosier.

EkwaNimitee Mon 01-Nov-21 09:32:38

I find bath sheets unnecessarily big so it's a bath towel for me as I just dry and dress anyway. My one bath sheet comes out when the big DSs visit.

Atqui Mon 01-Nov-21 09:30:25

Lemsip It’s just very relaxing to wrap a towel ( bath sheet!)round and sit on the bed relaxing for a while.

Atqui Mon 01-Nov-21 09:28:09

Ah yes … washing and drying Oh dear . I hope we are not asked to ditch them
by Cop26. Sorry - shouldn’t be frivolous about a serious subject( climate change not towels)

ixion Mon 01-Nov-21 09:25:03

Bath sheets always - lots to cover up☹️

Elegran Mon 01-Nov-21 09:22:56

I seem to be out of step with the crowd. I don't like bath towels, let alone bath sheets. They are too big. I like two normal hand towels - one to remove most of the water, then the second, dry one, to finish the drying process.
