Look at Wicked Uncle - brilliant website.

Though I would also endorse Labyrinth! Ours aged between 8 and 76 enjoy. I always get beaten.

You could go on to Amazon and put ‘board game for 8-year-olds into the search, then read the reviews to see which is the most popular, maybe add the word football to keep the theme.

Mine (7&9) are very much into Harry Potter at the moment and we played that version of Cluedo on Christmas Day rather successfully. I'm currently researching a game called Azul with a view to purchasing and would be very grateful for feedback on it from anyone here, please.

Labyrinth is popular with grandson, also Reversi but the important thing is to be willing and able to play tge games with him!
Dobble is a perennial favourite too.

Good morning all,
It is my grandson’s 8th birthday next week. I have bought him a replica football kit but would like to buy him some sort of board game. I am so out of the loop these days, and was wondering if any of your grandchildren received a game for Christmas that was well received.
