Anyone forgotten to complete online grocery order?

I almost forgot to complete my Tesco grocery order tonight which might have led to me only having a bottle of gin delivered! I’ve just changed from a weekly click and collect to a fortnightly delivery and am still getting used it. Now that my social life has restarted, I no longer need to cook a full meal every evening so a big order every two weeks with a quick top up at the local Coop might suit me better.

So today, I was busy making meringue shells ( loads of them!) for a party on Sunday and also experimenting cooking dishes in my new air fryer and totally forgot I needed to get online to do my order until 11pm - only left me 30 minutes to complete it! The only item in my basket was a bottle of gin! Luckily I had already got a shopping list so I managed to finish on time but it was close!

Has anyone forgotten completely to do their order? Do they really turn up with just a single item that you popped in to reserve your time slot?

Tesco now have a one click button which repeats your previous order which may be a good idea to hold your slot open.

Tesco sends me a text the day before my delivery is due asking if I need anything else. They also send me an email. That way, I definitely don't forget.

I don’t get a text before my order, just a receipt a few hours before delivery ( a new system apparently), I’m going to have a look to see if I can sign up to get one.

That would be better than nothing I suppose and save time adding regular items.

I had a text yesterday to remind me my order is due today and did I want to amend. They must know how forgetful I am.?

Double delivery the other week - I placed the first with Ocado, then realised I could get a better delivery slot from Waitrose so I placed a virtually identical order with them.

You know the rest blushblush

At least Tesco sends reminder . I don’t get anything from Sainsburys , and I thought they were supposed to send email if there were any unavailable items, but I have never had one

When do Tesco send a reminder? I usually put the rest of the stuff in the basket the day before delivery and have never had a reminder, nor an email about unavailable items.

I always get a text message the day before delivery and an email receipt on the day to tell me if anything is unavailable.

I don't get a reminder from Tesco.

I have been getting an email receipt with details of subs and unavailable items on the morning for the last three weeks. Never a text as they only have my landline number, zero mobile reception here.

I sat here waiting for my Asda delivery one afternoon, thought it strange that it had gone past the time expected. I checked my emails - nothing. I hadn't completed the order........... oh dear.

I get a txt reminder the evening before delivery from Tesco, I’ll get when in a while, ‘any updates for your delivery xxx tomorrow must be made by 11pm tonight’ . Something like that.

There was the time I was responsible for getting the bridesmaids’ brunch for the day of youngest D’s wedding. She, the bridesmaids and I were all due to get ready, hair done etc at her flat in London so I had ordered the champagne, smoked salmon, orange juice, bagels, eggs etc to be delivered there the evening before (as I knew she and her sister and a friend were going to have a last single girls’ night in)
Just before setting off from home the day before to drive to the hotel where we were due to be staying I wondered why I had not had my usual confirmation text so I rang customer services.
No trace of my order! I too had forgotten to check out. I was due to get the tube from the hotel to the flat (other side of London) so there was no way I could stop at a supermarket and buy it in person. I nearly wept - I had only one job!
However the lovely man, Mark, I remember him so well although it was 10 years ago, found me a delivery slot to the flat for early the next morning . It did mean the girls had to be up and half decent early but my face was saved.

I'm astonished that people forget to amend their order. I thought everyone had an Alexa and don't they do things like that? Alternatively, why not put a reminder on your phone?

Really?
Ye gods!

Callistemon21 Thu 10-Feb-22 23:41:57

I haven't even remembered to book a slot!

Oh dear.

You should have asked your Alexa

during the first lockdown I couldn't log onto the website to adjust my order so they delivered loads of sparkling wine. I must have looked like a right w***er grin
