HELP! Stain removal

Sorry no one has replied probably because they are worried their suggestions will only make it worse. I don’t have any answer except to suggest you call the furniture store ( from where she bought it) and the will have the right advice. You’re lucky it’s not my daughter. She would have killed me ?

If there’s a makers label or it’s on the invoice you could try them. Most have a helpline otherwise as crazyh recommends the store may be helpful. Perhaps a local French polisher or carpenter making bespoke furniture, someone an expert with wood. Fair to say I was a bit surprised as our light oak table has had all sorts dropped on it with no ill effects. Good luck with finding a solution, I can imagine how upset you feel.

You could try an orange oil wood furniture polish and cleaner. I have found OrangeGlo to be very good and a lovely smell but cheap it isn’t.

I have also used liberon with success on my table - though it is a mid-oak rather than a light one.
I clean it using a spray of 1 part olive oil to 2 parts white vinegar, just a light spritz from a spray bottle and then a good buffing.
Try not to feel too guilty...

I feel for you. Doesn’t sound like the table will be very practical though, (sorry if I’m stating the obvious) as a dining table is likely to get food dropped on it occasionally.

Afraid I have no helpful solutions, but do hope you get the stain off.

Before you do anything contact the manufacturer or shop. You may end up by making things worse and therefore harder or more expensive to rectify.

Was there no leaflet with care instructions among the papers?

Just remembered a tip I had from a furniture company director when dd bought some fine oak furniture. He said to keep it clean with baby wipes. So that could be worth a try.

I had a plate glass cover made for my new table. Looks great & easy to clean.
It gets used as a dumping ground for all sorts of stuff so I no longer have to worry about scratches etc.
I’d seen something similar on a table in the USA so knew it would look ok.

A red rose petal dropped and ‘melted’ on my oak table leaving a deep wine coloured stain, I used a soft cloth and dettol multi surface cleaner, it removed it completely.

A case for tablecloths, surely.
