Chestnut

As a child I remember going down to the local shop and struggling back with two gallon cans of paraffin. They were so heavy they cut into my fingers. We had paraffin heaters for some time after the coal fires, thought they were terribly modern.

That brings back memories! Being sent to get the paraffin. Was there any difference between the pink paraffin and the blue paraffin? I 'think' we used to get pink from local ironmonger.

When our current bedspread wears out I'm going to get a candlewick one. I presume somewhere will stock them still.

We used to pick the bits from the candlewick bedspread our mum used to go mad. I couldn't wear the trendy summer footwear at the time. I never liked a slide don't like heights.

I enjoyed that. The candlewick bedspread made me feel very nostalgic.
