Skin cover up

At my age, I’m not expecting my legs to be a thing of beauty but after two varicose vein operations I have various indents and discolorations.
In warm weather I like to wear a pair of mid calf or just below the knee pedal pushers.
Can anyone recommend a skin cover “ make up” I could use just on a few small areas, or am I on to a loser here as it would just rub off?

Hi Stoker. I am the same, my legs have varicose veins and all sorts of unsightly marks on them. , I use a fake tan at the start of Spring as I like to wear knee length shorts , it does help to make the veins less obvious , and give a nice golden look, but then I think well, these legs have carried me along for over 70 years, they are bound to look a bit battered !!!

Stoker48 interested to hear you have had varicose vein ops. Did you go private or NHS? I ask because I was told the NHS don't do them any longer. I could have had mine done in 2006, but foolishly I chickened out!

Thank you for replying.
Good point re fake tan, thank you.
Re: operations. First one done in early 90s. Couple days in hospital.
Second op done in January, not NHS.
My surgeon preferred to do day surgery. He was quite laid back in my pre op assessment appointment.
Said it would take two hours for the op and another hour pre op etc and that I would walk out straight afterwards and wouldn’t need any body to collect me etc.
All true but it was not an experience I’d like to repeat!

I had lovely legs but in my 70's they resemble road maps! I use a fake tan then cover up anything that still looks gruesome with a concealer. They still don't look great so I keep shorts for the garden and if I need to look smart in a shorter dress I wear very fine hold up stockings in summer as they are more comfortable than tights.

Might be worth looking at tattoo cover up make up - I've seen it used really successfully to cover up some huge and very colourful tattoos, and it seems to be pretty hard-wearing too.

I was just pondering about this same thing yesterday Stoker as I have similar issues. I remembered many years ago a product called leg make up sold by Boots that was used as more of a slight tan option than a cover up.
On my face in the summer I use a Nivea tinted moisturiser and thought I’d see if it covered up the blemishes on my legs. It did but had to use quite a lot. A google search has come up with a few options. I’ll have a good look into a few of them. Has anyone else tried anything that did the job?

Grandma dinosaur. I used Palmers cocoa butter fake tan. I have also used Sally Hansen. Airbrush Legs in Medium Glow Spray on tan which gives a good natural No streak tan , I use this when I get my legs out for shorts , knee length ones I must add !! ?

Just to add about the Sally Hansen leg tan. It says it’s water resistant and doesn’t come off on clothes , covers veins, freckles and other imperfections. What’s not to like , .

VEIL or DERMABLEND, available in various shades, and on prescription. Have a look at their websites.

I Found that fake tan applied to my legs comes off on my towels when drying myself after a shower ! I have bought tan ankle stockings to wear with crop trousers to cover my discolored ankles !

Thank you for the recommendations Lilypops I’ll check them out. I like the sound of the Sally Hansen one.

Thanks all for your contributions.
I will do a two tier approach - fake tan and a cover up cream.

Dermablend is good.
I think you can get little taster, or should that be tester?confused pots so you can work out which colour matches best

I've used the Sally Hansen Airbrush Legs a number of times, especially in the Summer. Things to note - spray it on standing on some towels and let it dry really well. It says it won't transfer but it will unless you let it dry. It says wait 60 secs but I found it safer to give it a few minutes. It washes off so it's not the same as a fake tan that will fade.
