Tree of Trees - what do you think

I think this tree sculpture is lovely. A really original idea. I'm glad it will be dismantled after four days. It's a nice symbol to represent the Queen's green canopy project. We're busy planning to plant a tree in our communal garden. Everyone is keen and we're just trying to decide which would be the best choice.

I think it’s a really good idea. It will have a lot of publicity, which matters more than people physically seeing the Tree for themselves.
We’ve got an initiative running in Wales in 2022 where we’re being offered a free tree for every household, the more awareness of how important trees are to the future of the planet the better in my opinion.

Trees will save us.

It's a load of symbolics

I think it will bring home to many people just how important trees are to the future of the planet.
It's brilliant and it is symbolic.

I think it's a waste of money.

Still think it is daft. It will be there for 4 days! Very few will get a chance to see it other than in pictures, the cost will be high. There will be many and different ways that money could be spent on to more joyous pleasure for many more people.

As far as I can see it'll just be there for the celebration weekend. After that the trees will be stored carefully until the planting season in October. The trees will then be distributed around the country to add to the Queen's Green Canopy.

Whole gardens are planted, dug up and replanted for Chelsea flower show each year, so no reason why this shouldn't work.

They are.
There are 70 Jubilee Woods being planted all over the country.

Still think it is a daft idea. Why not just plant the trees where they are going to spend their lives, this scheme will mean many of them are unlikely to flourish because they have been in pots for too long.

Why not plant woods and copses all over the country? What about planting a single tree on village green called the 'Platinium oak/ash/chestnut'. There are pubs everywhere named after one specimen tree in a community.

Strikes me as a daft idea. Different trees need different soils, different climatic conditions, they grow at different rates.

The hazel in our garden had to be cut down 3 years ago because it was rotting and dnagerous. We have let it sprout from the boll and the shoots are 15 feet high and growing rapidly. It took me as long to get a walnot tree to 3 foot.

How on earth do you combine all the different growth requirements and different growing patterns to make the tree look like the diagram. What happens when some of them die?

Perhaps they'll be planted in the new Woodland Trust Platinum Jubilee Woods, 70 new woods which are part of the Queen's Green Canopy initiative.

I would much rather have something from nature and not another boring statue that never looks the person it’s supposed to be or another portrait of the Queen when there are already so many. I just hope we don’t have another storm as it doesn’t look very sturdy. Wonder what would happen if a bird decided to nest in it?

I'm sure they would have incorporated a watering system, they would surely never be so stupid not to! It looks amazing, just hope they all get planted somewhere appropriate and manage to survive. I would imagine planting has been taken into account, as they would not be doing a project of this size and importance without advice from the experts.

However, well aimed hoses could keep them alive.

My main worry about planting trees is that most people haven't a clue about where and how they should be planted. The current obsession with tree-planting is actually quite worrying as most of it is done with no knowledge of or regard to what would happen if trees were left (i.e.areas protected from tree predators such as deer) to get on with it by themselves.
