I think its fine....I wore high waisted coral pants with cream top and nude shoes to my nephews wedding 3 weeks ago...I'm not sure why people are saying its not a good look?‍♀️....I got lots of compliments

Wearing something comfortable (that you feel special in) is best, I'm sure. My first MILs pained expression in the wedding photos - was due to 'killer' shoes apparently.

There's not much difference between a dress with leggings - and a long top with trousers anyway. Still, I think a dress is usually far more flattering for the overweight. I don't like the 'chopped' look, where the top half looks two feet forward of the legs!

I wore trousers at my son’s wedding. Navy blue with a blue and white floral jacket and a big-brimmed white hat. I am tall and quite slim, and I think the outfit suited me and was quite smart. I was the only woman in trousers, though - not that that bothered me. This was fourteen years ago.

My friend wore a flowing trouser suit for her DD's wedding and it looked lovely.

I wore a dress and jacket for my son’s wedding and it felt all the more special because I always wear trousers, never skirts.

I’ve not actually seen any mothers of bride/ groom in trouser suits, but then I have only attended two of my adult children’s weddings both times I wore dress & jacket

The most important thing is to wear whatever you look and feel good in, it’s a long day, and it’s important you’re comfortable. I hate wearing dresses (and skirts even more), the last time I wore a dress was to my daughter’s wedding, and although other people said they liked it I didn’t, and I regretted it all day. When my niece got married I wore a jumpsuit, which was lovely and I felt really good in.

Cant encourage wearing just pants to a wedding, not a good look. shock] best to wear something on top.
Trousers or dress, both look nice, Sorry, couldn't resist. grin

At my DS1s wedding MOB wore a floaty pants suit from Box1 it did look exceptional

Perfectly acceptable, it’s what you’re comfortable in, there are some gorgeous ones available, we’re in the 21st century, no longer obliged to wear a frock.

We.ve photographed many weddings where the bride wore a trouser outfit ,floaty trousers or even jumpsuits .There are beautiful trouser styles available for weddings

I think it's fine - depending on the particular outfit of course.

Some 20 years ago I attended a big wedding at the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Mayfair, no less. Church and event don't come much posher (for want of a better description!)

Both MOG and MOB were in very elegant trouser outfits - long and floaty, rather than suit-style.

Same here Welshy. My ex-DIL's mother wore a cream (same colour as the bride's dress) linen trouser suit. It was commentated on quite a bit!! She did change after the meal and make a comment about my colourful "fancy" hat and dress as she wore a black fascinator with matching accessories down to a black necklace but everyone to their own, as they say!! I thought she looked quite smart but not for a summer wedding.

As MOG I wore trousers to both of my sons weddings. I have not worn a dress for decades and I am not able to wear anything like fashion shoes so a dress would have been both totally out of character for me and would have looked terrible.

Photo is of one, not sure I can find the other.

Lots of people wear trousers to weddings these days, I think it’s absolutely fine.

Kim19 Sun 01-May-22 13:34:31

Whatever suits you and you feel good in will be perfect. I've done both. Never been in the principals party other than as bridesmaid/bride when outfit was traditional but would have no qualms were I prospective MoG.

Germanshepherdsmum Sun 01-May-22 13:32:24

I went to a wedding where the mother of the bride wore a trouser suit. I didn’t think it was a good look.

Have any of you worn trousers/pants to a wedding? What are your views on this? Mother of the Bride/Groom.
