Has anyone been to Porto?

We went there a several years ago for four days whilst they were celebrating Festival of St. Juan. It was very busy on the main day but we loved it.

Had lunch in Taylor’s Port House after doing the Port Tour which was delicious and not overly expensive.

We are hoping to go back for a river cruise on the Drouro soon.

We went there in September 2020. A lovely city. The tiled railway station, with its panorama scenes, are a must and a pleasure. You also have the 'Harry Potter' bookshop/staircase. It should be easier to get into now. We had to queue and they only admitted a set, small number of people but restrictions were on in EU then. Claus Porto soap shop is delightful and the staff were great. It's in the Rue das Flores, just down from the station. That street has decent restaurants. It's about 10 minutes walk from there to the harbour front. The Arab room in the Palacio da Bolsa is superb. Enjoy your trip.

Very nice city to visit. Agree with all the positive comments made above. Lots of cafes and restaurants.

We are interested in Porto for a long weekend having been to Lisbon, which was a pleasant surprise. I think a couple of days will be plenty, not too sure about the weather.

Yes, we had a fabulous 5 nights in Porto, we rented an air B&B by the bridge in the old town , it was perfect.
We took a cruise along the Douro river and returned via train.
The Port houses are so interesting and beautiful, we ate dinner at Taylor’s it was spectacular, here’s a link.

We visited Porto on a cruise stop. Lovely walk, down hill, from the city centre down to the river. Worth it if only to see all the beautiful tiles decorating the outsides of the buildings. River trips available but you can cross the river to the port houses by walking over the bridge. Wide promenade with plenty of places to eat on the water front. And best of all no need to struggle back up the steep hill. Take the lift up the cliff side situated by the bridge to the tram stop to take a ride back to the city centre in a vintage tram. Well worth a visit

Yes, I've been to Porto and I think it would be great for a long weekend. It's not huge but the old town is very atmospheric and it's one of those cities where you wander and stop for lovely lunches and dinners and coffee. I seem to remember the railway station is pretty amazing but can't recall any other specific sights. If you haven't been to Lisbon I'd probably prioritise going there, but Porto is definitely worth a weekend. Both cities are really hilly and not great for people with mobility issues. You'll need good trainers or walking sandals

We were there yesterday! We only went to the Graham's Port Lodge which we enjoyed. €18 for tour including port tasting, more expensive tours available. Can't comment on the city itself as we were passing through in our campervan.
