Hello Gransnetters. Any advice you can give a Gran about the best type of travel cot to buy would be much appreciated. Middle of the road cost please. Thank you Grans out there

We had a couple for our GC from Mothercare ( no longer in business ) but I bought an extra matress for them as I felt they were hard . Mind you the Scottish government give out these baby boxes so they would be even hard for babies to sleep in.

If the parents don’t have any particular opinion, this is a good one. www.buggybaby.co.uk/chicco-zip-and-go-travel-cot-glacial-p1545

It’s cheaper now than when I bought ours four years ago!

Bought three two for first grandchildren the third for most recent grandchild. All from Aldi perfectly stable and easy to assemble.

We had a Hauk Dream n Play when my grandchildren were babies. Currently selling for around £40. It was very handy for taking to hotels, self catering accommodation etc. The reviews were very good. I bought it in Tesco.

Be prepared for a travel cot mattress being much firmer than a regular cot mattress. The advice from the Lullaby Trust is not to be tempted to pad it with blankets or anything else to soften it. For safety, if an additional mattress is required it should be the custom fit one with correct measurements and no gaps.

I didn’t buy an additional mattress as my grandchildren slept as soundly in it as they did in their deep sprung cot mattresses at home.

We had a hauck one (still have it in a cupboard). I had to replace the board underneath it as toddlers jumped up and down on it. I also got a thicker mattress from hauck who seem to supply spares.
