It’s been a fabulous weekend hasn’t it?
We all understand the Queen’s life of service.
Wouldn’t it be wonderful if, in these really difficult days, she showed her appreciation by putting her hand in her vast (secret) wealth and repaid all the expense many hard pressed Councils have incurred?

Yes, but it won’t happen.

Thought this would be will she now abdicate? Which she won't . Nor will she pay for anything. The RF operate on what my mum used to say about some men's attitudes towards marriage and money. In this case it's the public and the RF not the husband and wife.

Her Majesty's Government could easily reimburse councils. It's a political decision not to do it.

They could do it without any charge on 'the people', too as the government is the issuer of our money.

I thought it was going to be about the group 'Queen'. The pedant in me would expect HM to be referred to as The Queen...

(The Freddie Mercury substitute did his best, but the original was much, much, better)

Another pedant here Maize!

I went to a Jubilee picnic in a nearby village yesterday. There was a band and free candy floss and lots of activities. The refreshments were provided by a local bakery but sold and the money donated to charity. The parish council funded this event out of money given by the government. The Jubilee events have only cost the public a very tiny amount of money per head. The Queen and her family donate privately to many worthwhile causes and give much time to supporting charities and publicising them. Enough said.

I know of donations the Queen and Charles have given but this will be dismissed because I can’t say more of the donations

Is that what you do if you are, for work reasons, invited to something the Council pays for?

Will Queen abdicate?

I really hope not.
No, Adam is not the same as Freddie but no-one ever could be.

Better to have someone different with a good voice and his own style than someone trying to be a poor imitation.

I thought Councils had been given money by the Government to spend on the Jubilee celebrations?

If so, do they have to refund it if they don't spend it all as ours didn't?

Wouldn’t it be wonderful if, in these really difficult days, she showed her appreciation by putting her hand in her vast (secret) wealth and repaid all the expense many hard pressed Councils have incurred?

Why? I don't understand, why should she pay for anything to do with her being H of S?

Why?

National Lottery Funding
More than £22 million of National Lottery funding is being made available to help communities across the country come together to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee

Me too but I think we're lone voices, Lucca!

Whats wrong with spending £22 million making so many of people happy, building up social cohesion and improving the mood of the country.

There can have been very few communities anywhere in the country that did not benefit from this money, and looking at the pictures I saw yesterday, those with the most money were those least likely to be taking part in street parties and other jollifications.

Just because people do not like the monarchy doesn't mean that we must restore the puritans and oliver Cromwell.
