Painful bakers cyst

I have recently been told by doctors after a scan that my very painful knee is actually a bakers cyst. I have had this ongoing pain for about 5 or 6 weeks now and still find it difficult to get about. Can anyone give me any advice on how long they take to go as I have been off work and really need to get back but work on feet all day,

I don't know but I can sympathise. Being on your feet all day will be painful and won't help.

Can you ask if the cyst can be drained and/or have a cortisone injection? If you have seen a specialist they really should be able to offer some help.
At least I hope so, I'm still waiting for an appointment.

Riley64, I do so sympathise with you. I had one just over a year ago. I am not sure if they can be drained, as the fluid is thick.
Ice packs can help and gentle massage.

It will eventually heal itself, meanwhile take pain killers and rest if you can. I wish you all the best.

I had a Bakers cyst about twelve years ago and it was very painful because it ruptured and the draining fluid felt like hot water was trickling down the back of my leg. I took paracetamol and found ice packs helped.

I can’t remember how long it took to heal and my already arthritic knee was weak for a long time.
