It will shock some of you to learn that the Wondrous Wolfie is about to turn 4.

We haven't seen him (or his brother and sister) for 5 weeks , they had covid and then I was proper poorly in hospital.

We want to get him a really super birthday present - any ideas? Up to £50. Thank you.

Bought my 4 year old great-grandson these and he plays with them for hours, he loves them

Bluey is very popular at the minute and there are vehicles, and figures to go with it, my grandson loves it

Thank you all for the further suggestions everyone.

Will definitely check the books out - I am a compulsive book buyer.

He is quite difficult to buy for as his big brother and sister have had or have most things.

Kittylester, I don't think you're looking for books as the main present, but thought I would put a word in for a website which I've found very useful when looking to buy books for my grandsons - (whatever I give them for Birthdays/Christmas, books are always included) .
It was easy when really young, but as they get older it's difficult to keep up with what is popular for the age group and also newly published books.

I have found www.lovereading4kids.co.uk really useful. It recommends fiction and non fiction books for each age group, tells you about newly published books, and gets children to review some of the books ( elder grandson has done this).
Just a thought..

How about an easel? With paper, magnetic letters and numbers, pens etc. They usually have a chalk board and a white board. Great for rainy Winter days and the letters and numbers are great for pre school learning.

Some children wouldn't like this at all but when our grandson was about that age he was very into pretending to be a strong man like John Cena. Got him this on a whim and it turned out to be one of the most used gifts ever and tickled us to pieces in the process: www.amazon.co.uk/Childrens-Super-Muscle-Shirt-Costume/dp/B00434CL4C/ref=sr_1_5?crid=WD46AGLQJTNX&keywords=muscle%2Bcostume%2Bkids&qu=eyJxc2MiOiIxLjgyIiwicXNhIjoiMS40NSIsInFzcCI6IjAuOTkifQ%3D%3D&sprefix=muscle%2Bcostume%2Caps%2C197&th=1&tag=gransnetforum-21&qid=1665063910&sr=8-5

The Works 'Build A Den'
I bought DGD 2 and a sheet to go over the top

kittylester Thu 06-Oct-22 14:31:35

It is isn't it millie.

DH used to travel on it to school over 60 years ago and the line passes his childhood home but no longer stops in the same place. Great for anecdotes for the dgc.

Kitty
Sorry to hear you've not been well.

That's a nice photo from the GCR. A lovely place to visit with children.

A drone? Our little grandson loves flying his all over the place, Amazon have them for young kids and they are quite robust.

I second Transformers, especially the Super Heroes. Our 4 year old GS loves them. He also loves anything Lego even the small stuff but he could be the exception with this.

My family prefer days out to things. If possible I try to get them with my Tesco vouchers.

I found some toy talking hamsters on line. You say something and they repeat it then they talk to each other. My granddaughter age 4 went into hysterical laughter and played with them all day driving everyone mad. For Christmas we have bought her a singing lobster ?

Magnatiles! Best present ever. Grandchildren get them out time after time. Not all magnetic building tiles work together though need to stick to one make and rhe original magnatiles are the best size and best. Not cheap - buy as many as you can afford

janipans Thu 06-Oct-22 11:37:39

A fitbit type watch (Garmin I think) - my grandchildren aged 4 and 6 never take them off! They both love them.

Wondrous Wolfie came today with his mum. Really cheered me up.

In a fairly convoluted conversation it was decided that the camera is a good ide - not least because then DD might have access to her phone more often.

Grannmarie Wed 05-Oct-22 21:23:12

No worries, Callistemon!?

kittylester Wed 05-Oct-22 10:01:07

I know, Doodle, flipping scary.

Callistemon21 Tue 04-Oct-22 19:20:28

Grannmarie, sorry, it was your good suggestion.

Callistemon21 Tue 04-Oct-22 19:18:35

Witzend

I’ve given those V Tech cameras to Gdcs - Gdd1 at 6 and Gds at 5 - he was longing for one after seeing his sister’s. Still going strong 18 months later, and that’s saying something, given that Gds is a human hurricane.

Oh yes, a camera - DGS took some good photos when he was younger than 4 and DGD'S photos of flowers taken on a mobile are better than any I've taken.

GagaJo Tue 04-Oct-22 19:11:04

Magna tiles. My DGS has had his for 2 years and still plays with them.

Brio construction kit. GS plays with his loads. We actually got a 2nd it was so good.

Doodle Tue 04-Oct-22 19:00:59

Wolfie is 4 ?. How did that happen. He was only born a few months ago ?
Seriously hope he has a great birthday and enjoys your present whatever it is.
My offering is Lego. Firm favorite with my DGS who used to love building cars…..he now drives his own…?

kittylester Tue 04-Oct-22 18:49:40

I'm far too young for GGC, anno! grin

Actually our eldest is 23 so maybe not. shock

I am getting there, thank you!

Remote controlled cars is a good idea as are transformers and maybe the camera.
