Why can’t I find…?

Why can’t I find the sort of nightdress I want?
For winter, long sleeves, plain , long length so it doesn't ride up over my knees, half way round my back?
The only ones I can find are voluminous, brushed cotton with lots of gathers and a lace trim, not my style at all.
Jersey cotton preferred but I don’t mind a bit of a mixture as long as it is soft and comfortable.
I did find one, but it was £69.

With me, nighties in Summer, and pyjamas in Winter. Actually, I like PJs , Summer and Winter

Have you looked at Cotton Traders ? They have a few of that sort of style

I agree with lizzypopbottle - just make your own. I tend to draw around something I already find comfortable (adding seam allowances) and make a duplicate.

My order from Landsend arrived within two days of ordering. I bought one long sleeved for winter and one short sleeved for summer. The fabric pattern is not fantastic, but they were in the sale and I couldnt see the point in paying twice the price just for a plain colour instead of a patterned one. Very comfortable.

Thanks for the heads up! They are perfect and have just ordered one.

Lands end do them.

I wear my husband's old winter shirts, cut the collar off, and pair of M&S winter pyjama bottoms. Cosy and not expensive. In summer the coolest discarded shirt & pair of knickers, or summer pj's. He is large, shirts long!!

Concordia I'm with Cabbie21 and the nighties from Lands End. I bought for winter -long sleeve and summer - short sleeve last year and altho' the fabric has changed it is much softer and very comfortable. It has not deteriorated as has some of their tops and t-shirts. Good luck!

Yes. Amazon to the rescue. Have had some really nice nightdresses from there. I always go for cotton and they are very reasonably priced.

During lockdown I treated myself to lovely jersey ones from Bonsoir. Very expensive but will last for years and so comfortable -https://bonsoiroflondon.com/collections/womens-nightdresses/products/french-pleat-nightdress-berry?variant=41873499488435

Beautiful! I’d definitely wear that as a dress

Pollyj

Why can’t I find shoes in half sizes `below a £100. I don’t want a 5 - too small. A 6 is too big and no, I don’t want to stuff the toes!

Moshulu do half sizes and are so comfy!

Triumph have some long sleeved nighties.

Jackiest Tue 11-Oct-22 21:50:03

I find an electric blanket works better than a long nightdress.

My bug bear is ‘cutesy’ pyjamas. I am 56, I don’t want to wear nightwear with fluffy bunnies, or teddies, or cute play on words on it (equally awful). I gave up year ago and wear T shirts and Lycra boy short pants.

midgey Tue 11-Oct-22 16:27:32

Marks have exactly what you want! I saw it yesterday, longer short length, jersey cotton in inoffensive blue and white pattern……alleluia!

FarawayGran Tue 11-Oct-22 16:19:43

I have been wearing Land's End nightdresses for years. Long sleeve, short sleeve, patterned, plain in Supima cotton. Buy in the sale for excellent value

Cabbie21

Thanks for all the suggestion re nightdresses.

Pollyj, re shoes. I am the same. 6 is too big and 5 a bit tight.
Hotter do half sizes. Pavers do Wide fit, which I find are usually just right, depending on the shape.
If you have a Boundary Mills outlet nearby ( other outlets too) they have great prices on these makes.

Oh great. Not just me then! I will look into those.

Davida1968 Tue 11-Oct-22 14:03:32

Another vote from me for Damart. Mine have lasted years. (Just make sure they're 100% cotton. Some of theirs aren't.)

toscalily Tue 11-Oct-22 13:54:54

Oh the trouble finding a nightdress, I don't want it with straps too thin because it probably won't cover my bosom, don't want it to thick, it makes me too hot, don't want skimpy material, don't want it too long (I'm short) or too short (I'm not 21 any more), don't want scratchy lace, don't want silly patterns or slogans. I just want a decent length, short sleeved nightie in a good natural fabric which does not cling and does not cost the earth.
