Just that really. If you visit your friends do they sometimes have bare feet when entertaining and, if so, would you rather they didn’t?

Nothing wrong with my feet, still cut my own nails and pamper my feet. I am nearly always bare footed and even nip out into the garden in bare feet In any weather except snow. I don’t see anything wrong with other peoples feet

This would never occur to me. If it's in their house, they can wear what they want, or not. I suppose if the perpetrator had horrendous, cheesy feet with yellow toe nails and fungus growing between their toes, then I might object.

Am wishing I hadn’t read that🤢

I don’t mind other peoples feet and mine are still fine to look at . I’m barefoot a lot of the time or in flip flops. Thermal socks at the moment though.

Same here.
As long as the feet and nails look ok then all fine.

I like my feet and look after them, I do,go barefoot in nice weather, if someone visits I usually put fit flops on. Would never have people in if not wearing a bra, I could never burn mine, I need it.

Notice quite a few of the worlds high maintenance, otherwise glamourise women, have dreadful feet despite their Jimmy Choos. Including the woman in the news this week. Some things better hidden. It doesn't bother me what others do in their homes.

It’s very, very good to go barefooted. So many messages to maintain a healthy balance as you age. Provided of course you have plenty of feeling in your feet now. I like feet and can’t see why they should be disturbing to anyone.

I'm in my mid seventies and certainly in the summer at home I am bare footed. If it was safe to walk outside I would and if my feet didn't get so cold in the winter I would never have to buy shoes again.smile

GreyKnitter Sat 17-Dec-22 14:29:01

I really don’t mind whether they wear shoes or not! In the summer I often have bare feet or flip flops, although I’m wearing warm socks and slippers now. Never considered that some would find bare feet offensive!

As a lady in my late 60’s I thought maybe a visit to the podiatrist might be a good idea. He astonished me by saying I had “perfect feet”!! I only wish the rest of me was 😂

I have bare feet in the house, but would never go barefoot or wear jeans with rips in them to anyone’s home for dinner.. I was amazed to read that anyone behind is an adult would do that. It shows a lack of respect and occasion.

Tough if people don't like bare feet, I wear flip flops all year round in the house, if warm enough, because my feet are so painful as to make enclose footwear unbearable.
I had to put a pair of boots on to go shopping the other day and I got an enormous blister over a spur on my heel.

Maggiemaybe Sat 17-Dec-22 08:29:07

I go barefoot nearly all the time at home, and just put socks on for warmth. I hadn’t realised how many stomachs I must have turned over the years. grin

But when I’m “entertaining” I’ll have made a bit of an effort, so I’ll have shoes on or tights if I kick them off.

Not ties "toes". Sorry

RVK1CR Sat 17-Dec-22 07:43:25

The fashion for open toe often high heeled sandals with winter dresses never looks right to me. I always thought sandals were for summer, day, evening or night. Now the women featured in the Showbiz pages, clothes catalogues or magazine always have their toes on display with dresses/trousers all year round, which means no tights or stockings, so how do they keep warm? What happened to court shoes or satin shoes for evening, much more elegant. I have noticed those who wear low cut or slashed skirts just have to have ties out too.

I said some people have vulgar feet not all. Long dirty toenails and crusty yellow heels is never a good look.

I don't mind feet. If I had visitirs I would eutger have slippers or slip on shoes I keep for indoors. Would not entertain anyone in my bare feet unless lounging in the garden or at a poolside.

Mirren Fri 16-Dec-22 19:53:08

I don't mind nice , clean young feet.
Clean being the operative word though.
In my job as a GP the most horrible bits are not " personal " examinations but teenage boys who wear stinky trainers and plonk their fungus ridden smelly feet on my lap for perusal.
Yuck !

CanadianGran Fri 16-Dec-22 18:52:07

I find this thread a bit surprising, to be honest. I have never thought of feet as being a other than a normal body part, like hands. We don't find them disgusting.

I tend to keep my feet covered in fall and winter, but bare in summer. Usually Birks on my feet even in the house in the summer, but more because my feet are sensitive, not because I thing anyone would find them repulsive.

I would have no issue with anyone being bare-footed at my house.

Lucca Fri 16-Dec-22 18:51:06

My feet are fine , quite nice in fact but my ankles are another story….swollen a lot of the time, maybe something to do with diabetes ?

CBBL Fri 16-Dec-22 18:42:19

I probably wouldn't notice other people's feet, as I have no Peripheral vision!
I'd say that in your own home, you would be entitled to go barefoot if you choose. Personally, I can think of worse things I would prefer not to see!

madeleine45 Fri 16-Dec-22 18:31:52

well I used to be very much barefoot in the summer and especially in the garden as I loved feeling the grass beneath my feet and as I had a shower every day they stayed clean and as far as I was concerned decent. However sadly I am now a diabetic and have been told that I must wear shoes or slippers and not go barefoot as you are vunerable to problems with your feet and also since becoming diabetic I do find that any cuts etc take longer to heal, so sadly I no longer enjoy wandering barefoot . So I would say enjoy wandering with bare feet while you can and if you are your own in your own home why not. If I was expecting visitors I would probably wear some covering . ah well at the moment there is no worries for anyone arriving unexpectedly as it is flipping freezing so it is putting on MORE than one covering and wrapping up warm!

Ellie Anne Fri 16-Dec-22 18:23:02

I don’t like feet. Can cope with little children’s but that’s all. My friend has a visitor who takes off her shoes so that the dog can lick her feet. . I would throw her out! YUK

Sago

Ah, the Meghan story, she proudly announced that when she first met the then Duke and Duchess of Cambridge she greeted the in bare feet and ripped jeans.
Bare feet and bare chests should only be seen by a pool or a beach.

Both the bare feet and the ripped jeans sent a deliberate message.

Bare feet might say "I'm a very casual relaxed , hippy type" which is slightly weird in the context of meeting future in-laws.

Ripped jeans are a hideous affectation - it denotes a total phony - a rich person trying to pretend to be a poor person, so very badly judged.
