Just that really. If you visit your friends do they sometimes have bare feet when entertaining and, if so, would you rather they didn’t?

Zoejory Wed 14-Dec-22 09:59:47

I can't stand feet. Pun unintended. But I hate to see them exposed.

I'd be extremely unhappy and would probably scream and leave if shoes or socks were not worn.

Ah, the Meghan story, she proudly announced that when she first met the then Duke and Duchess of Cambridge she greeted the in bare feet and ripped jeans.
Bare feet and bare chests should only be seen by a pool or a beach.

I'd be amazed if any of my friends had bare feet. They're all in their seventies or eighties now so their feet are not a pretty sight.
I don't really like feet, especially my own.

A friend, aged 88, never wears shoes unless she’s going out, or actual snow/ice on the garden. She even gardens, including heavy stuff with bare feet. It makes me cold just thinking about it.

Well in the summer I am often in flip flops especially around the house and in the garden. So if people come round they will see my bare feet. Always painted toes though.

Shinamae Wed 14-Dec-22 10:05:26

I would not inflict the sight of my hideous feet to anyone!!

Witzend Wed 14-Dec-22 10:08:39

As long as they’re clean and kempt, usually OK with me. An ex SiL of mine almost invariably had grubby looking, unkempt feet.
And IMO horny, over-long, yellow toenails should by law be required to be covered if anyone else is going to have to see them.

I don’t wear shoes in the house and in summer my feet will be bare.

MaizieD Wed 14-Dec-22 10:12:25

I don't look at people's feet when I visit them. Bare feet wouldn't worry me at all.

If you still have beautiful feet in old age then you are very fortunate. If your bare feet don't get frozen then you are also very fortunate. If your balance is good enough to go barefoot then you are even more fortunate. I keep my feet covered up because I am not one of the fortunate ones!

Rewind 30 or more years and I probably wouldn't have noticed or cared if anyone was barefoot. But that was then and this is now.

I had no idea this was an issue with folk. In the Summer I am often in bare feet in the house and flip flops in the garden. I have always tried to look after my feet as my Mum had bunions and corns so at work I always wore Dr Scholls sandals ugly but my toes have never had corns and although my sister has had them for years no bunions. I have always tried to wear shoes that were stylish and comfortable when going out and have regular pedicures. I wonder how many people I have offended over the years with my bare feet at home, parties and work. Too late now! grin

FlexibleFriend Wed 14-Dec-22 10:34:06

It's never occurred to me that the sight of my bare feet could or would offend anyone. My feet still look the same as a teenagers, no deformities of any description.

Callistemon21 Wed 14-Dec-22 10:35:28

I don't mind other people's feet.

It's just mine I don't like!!

Redhead56 Wed 14-Dec-22 10:41:22

Not something I want to look at some peoples feet are vulgar to look at they need covering up.

GrannyGravy13 Wed 14-Dec-22 10:45:24

I am always barefoot at home inside and out in the summer.

It has to be exceptionally chilly for me to wear socks, they went on last week.

Blossoming Wed 14-Dec-22 10:46:05

My balance is crap but I still find it easier to walk without shoes!

GrannyGravy13 Wed 14-Dec-22 10:46:16

Oops I do have a pedicure every six weeks, fortunate to have very petite dainty feet.

Glorianny Wed 14-Dec-22 10:48:10

Oh dear I've just gone into slippers because of the cold. I'm usually barefoot. Didn't even wear slippers until a few years ago. It never occurred to me that someone wouldn't like it. I like painting my toenails and my feet still look OK.
But I do wonder all those who hate seeing feet what do you do in the summer, when most people are barefoot?

Heavens! I can think of much more vulgar things for people to expose...

GagaJo Wed 14-Dec-22 10:49:10

Children have lovely plump little feet. Young people mostly have nice feet. For some reason, men's feet seem to be less pleasant than women's. But almost all elderly people's feet are not nice to look at. Mine included.

Another one who is barefoot or flip flops in the summer so it wouldn’t bother me. If I’m visiting or have friends round I’m talking to their face, not their feet!

tanith Wed 14-Dec-22 10:59:27

I don’t mind other peoples feet and mine are still fine to look at . I’m barefoot a lot of the time or in flip flops. Thermal socks at the moment though.

J52 Wed 14-Dec-22 11:16:29

I walk around the house barefooted in the summer. Fortunately my feet have changed very little over the years, probably my best feeture ( sorry for the pun!)
I put it down to being able to wear good shoes as a child.
