As a youngster I always liked the coffee creams that were included in many boxed selections. Over the years these seemed to be fazed out. Imagine my delight this morning, I had been gifted a small box of Black Magic by my lovely neighbour and to my delight there was coffee creams included in the selection.
What's your best or least favourite in a box of choccies?

A friend at work would bring in all the soft centres, as her family only liked the hard toffees. Bliss, and they disappeared in no time!

When I was teaching we used to take in the chocs no one ate on the first day back and put them in a communal tin in the staff room. Guaranteed they had all gone by the end of the first week!

Coffee creams - wow! The very best were Cadbury but they were phased out years ago. Best ones now are Thorntons but only at Amazon. Don't all rush and buy them out please ! I had two bags yesterday and have already had a dabble.

I quite like coffee creams but am not keen on the fruity creams as they are too sickly sweet. I hate very dark chocolate and nuts, especially peanuts.

The green triangles are a favourite.

I never buy those big containers of chocolates (because there's only me), though in the supermarket last week an assistant approached me with a box of Cadburys Heroes and said 'Happy Christmas, these are with our compliments'. I was very surprised to be given them - after all you don't get 'summat for nowt' but thank you very much. They were delicious.

I used to like the orange creams and the coffee ones. When I was young I detested marzipan and the almond nut ones but now I quite like them. I still don’t eat the marzipan on top of cakes, nasty stuff.

Not too keen on caramels. Fruit creams are okay, but I do like coffee, marzipan, truffles and Turkish delight. What spoils chocolates for me is the crunchy, sugar bits that are added to many, particularly mints.

Truffles, pralines, fancy Belgian chocolates, I love them! Not so keen on cremes but I do like a good bitter orange. I have a nostalgic affection for the Quality Street golden penny too. My dear grandparents always had a large tin of QS on the sideboard all year and it was a real treat in those days to be allowed them! My Nana used to hoard the golden pennies for me as they were my favourite. They play havoc with my fillings now though unfortunately!

I also love the coffee creams but cannot enjoy the strawberry creams too sweet.

I generally like/love any chocolate - but I draw the line at coffee creams. I just can't understand why they've never tasted like any coffee I've ever had...

Love a coffee cream or any coffee chocolate for that matter. Often treat myself in Hotel Chocolate these days

I quite like coffee creams but my favourites are Turkish delight and nut ones.

I hate the strawberry ones, always called them "calpol flavour" as a kid. Also don't like the orange ones.

Not a fan of Quality Street or even milk chocolate, tbh. That reminds me, we haven't bought any Christmas chocs! I have the lurgy, so I doubt we will get any now...

Clearly we need a full range of test products available to all on gransnet to compare/contrast.

surely we can get sponsorship?

(anyone got a relative at Hotel Chocolat?)

I can't drink coffee, I hate the stuff but will have the coffee cream out of the chocolate box anytime!

Wyllow3 Fri 23-Dec-22 20:45:04

Least favourite = yup, coffee creams. In fact, no "creams" unless its the most posh fresh cream chocs.
But like my filter coffee, so no logic there.

Best choc - pralines.
Type of choc - milk choc as long as a very high % cocoa solids.

Hellogirl1 Fri 23-Dec-22 20:41:15

I wish that Black Magic would bring back my 2 favourites, liquid cherry and toffee and mallow, they disappeared years ago. I like most of them, but hate Turkish Delight and truffles.

Whitewavemark2 Fri 23-Dec-22 08:05:13

Love chocolates - any chocolates - we treat ourselves to a box from our local chocolatiere every Christmas.

Yum!

Despite being a coffee addict I’m not a fan of coffee creams, or any other soft centres. They taste stale to me.
Nuts all the way for me.

Claudiaclaws Thu 22-Dec-22 22:57:47

I love coffee creams, coffee cake, coffee ice cream ( the best one ever was from Mercadona in Spain )and just Coffee.

Redrobin51 Thu 22-Dec-22 21:25:11

Love coffee crea s Turkish delight soft caramels, anything with a lemon flavour and partial to pralines. Always used to have to buy my best friend Thornton Coffee creams and she was devastated when the shop closed. Occasionally treather by buying from Amazon but they have got really expensive. I could never understand why they were phased out.

SachaMac Thu 22-Dec-22 21:17:07

I prefer nutty, caramel or fudge centres, I don’t really like strawberry or orange creams but absolutely love the Scicilian Lemon in the Thornton’s selection.
